Edited the title since all evidence points towards this being shipped numbers and not sold-through numbers.

Someone got a source where it says shipped? I know these numbers usually mean shipped but Sony also usually announces sold through. Then again they didn't specify sold through like they usually do so it's probably shipped.

http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/IR/financial/fr/14q4_sonypre.pdf

Sony shipped 22.3m as of March 31, 2015... it is in they financial results.

"Unit Sales or Sales for Key Electronics Products (Quarterly Results)"

Where does it say shipped? I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just trying to understand based on the wording.

Companies always report shipments in their earnings reports, because that reflects a sold unit to them.

Oh' for Pete's sake so say Sony shipped over 22.3 Million at the end of March.. its at the end of Apr now! Its Tax return season and in Christmas season Sony sold over 4.1 million PS4's.

the fact is its shipping systems passed the 22.3 million at the end of freaking March anyway!

I'm having a real hard time figuring out what you're trying to get at here.

2M in one month... Playstation Domination Forever!!!

I don't mean to offend, but what is your point?

How many would still be sitting on the.  shelf right now, if at the end of march Sony shipped already over 22.3 million units anyway. Shipping "over " means more than, so how many more?

exactly we do not freaking know. But in one months time can Sony sell over 2+ million units world wide? That answer is yes.

Every single Month? No, but what we do know is.

Consumer spending picks up in Tax returns, those that miss Christmas spending tend to hold off until tax returns come in, and again there was increased bundle and sales deals for Electronics and high ticket items from the end of march through Apr.

Are you kidding?

This is SOLD THOUGHT report from Sony: http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/release/150304a_e.html

Financial releases are always sold (sell in / shipped)... it is different from sold thought.

It's at best less than 50k over 22.3 million at the end of march, since this comes from Sonys earnings report where they report shipments in million units with one place after the decimal point.

No problem

Alright guys, here are Sony's sold-through numbers in perspective:

Q1 CY2014: At the beginning of 2014, Sony announced 4.2 million PS4's sold-through and later announced 7 million at the beginning of April. Thus, the PS4 sold 2.8 million in the first quarter.

Q1 CY2015: Sony announced 18.5 million sold-through by the beginning of January. If Sony sold-through 22.3 million by the end of March, the PS4 would've sold-through 3.8 million.

That is illogical because you would be basically saying the PS4 would be up YOY by 1 million.

This.  And it doesn't make sense to sell 2.1m in one month.
