I feel for you, really I do (no, honestly, I do). But you have to remember what Reggie said. This game is suppose to do for FPS what the first Super Mario Kart did. It's not aimed at core gamers. Sure, core gamers CAN play it, but that's not the target demograph here. They want people to play this game that DON'T like core FPS. So in their mind, why put core features in? 

To me, it makes no sense why you wouldn't try for both, but this is the Nintendo way, not mine. I'm sure it'll be fun anyway.

I've got to say my mood for this game is dead at this point. It just lacks far too many features that should really be standard in this type of game.

Such potential... Wasted.

Hmm.. it says no "custom" private matches, not a lack of them altogether. Will have to see if Nintendo clarifies this closer to launch. No private matches at all would be such a wasted opportunity for this type of game.

Quick point though, from the IGN article: "Splatoon doesn’t offer custom match types with friends like Smash Bros."

This only states that a custom matchmaker LIKE SSB's does not exist on Splatoon but does not tell us what Splatoon DOES have. Hopefully a good one.

What were you expecting that is not in the game. Tell to us. Because I just don´t understand how is possible to so many people being unable to read what the source says.

Well this is disappointing. I would've like for Nintendo to give us the option to play private online matches. Same thing with voice chat.

And this source gives us no reason to doubt that we have that option. Read it again...
