Did Dragon Age sell all that well?

Dragon Age Inquisition was multiplatform and was defintely more mainstream than some of its competition like Bayonetta 2. I'm not trying to say that the best selling games get a better chance at GOTY, but niche games like XCX, P5, maybe Splatoon(?) have a hard time beating the more accessible, mainstream games.

I agree with you, Just funny how SSBU got robbed even with highest Meta and probably the biggest game of last year.

I just thought DA:I sold about 1mil.... Oh well:0

What does metacritic have to do with his statement, though?

Really? Because what if it gets a 92-93, that means it'll be in the run for GoTY. Not many games hit over 90+. Every 90+ game was practically a contender last year.

Dont kno if your joking or what...

GOTY awards are given from multiple media outlets and multiple events, Metacritic result isn't the defacto signifier of a GOTY winner.

Assassins creed 3 averaged 85, won GamePro's GOTY 2013, Oddworld Abe's oddysee, 85 again, still won Games magazines GOTY in 1999, Ass creed 2 won GamePro's GOTY in 2009 with a score of 86, Dragon Age: Inquisition won EGM's 2014 GOTY award with a meta of 85, Edge awarded Borderlands GOTY in 2009 despite getting a PC meta of 81 and console of 89, Destiny won GamesRadars GOTY despite metas in the mid 70s. Famitsu gave GOTY to Monster Hunter 4 despite metas of 86.

So tell me again how meta is directly linked to GOTY.

I really doubt. Game of the Year is given by western media.
They usually prefer western style games.
I think witcher 3 has a better chance.

One thing I really hate was that Bayonetta 2 didnt win GOTY last year or even THE BEST ACTION GAME.

I say: DAI was good, since western media prefer western games, it is understandable to give GOTY to DAI.
BUT how did they give the BEST ACTION GAME to Middle Earth????? Not Bayonetta 2??????
Bayonetta 2 was way better than Middle Earth

You raise a valid point. The last eastern game to win overall GOTY was Resident Evil 4 in 2005. Is the lack of Eastern games winning due to Western bias or a lack of good Eastern output though? This website only goes back to 2003 but I'm willing to bet that before that year there were plenty of Japanese games winning overall GOTY.

Because im talking about majority of GoTY. I didnt list GoTY for Polygon/Ign/etc only. Metacritic reflects that, so i ask again really?

Also you cant cherry pick a console for multiplats, its always the one with the most reviews for obvious reasons. Games you listed are mostly games that won GoTY from 1-3 gaming sites/reviewers/etc.

Once again METACRITIC DOES REFLECT MAJORITY OF GOTY.

Can GTA V win again? PC release happening this year.

Do everyone a favor and actually research it.
There have beem many games on many platforms that scored well but didn't even get nominated in many cases for a GOTY let alone win one.

Implying that splatoon may theoretically (since it is entirely a guess at this point) get 90+ and thus instantly becomes a contender for GOTY is disingenuous.

That isn't to say it cannot win a GOTY award, but that whether or not it wins one will not be based on it's metacritic score.

Do everyone a favor and bring a better link, because it doesn't change anything i said lol. Especially when i was saying most GoTY winners are 90+ games on Meta.

And as i pointed out, most are not too, because the award is based on individual news outlets opinions of a game, not a "hey lets round up all the 90+ metacritic games and pick one" if that were the case, there would be no sub 90 winners of GOTY, clearly, it's not the case.

All of my posts have backed that up, all of your posts have been supposition.

I'm asking you to take the time to actually research the link between GOTY and Meta and contribute to the discussion rather than shrug it off in a lazy manner.

A high scoring game is in general, hightly rated, and thus you would imagine, a sure fire contender for GOTY, but that isn't always the case, and games which have attained that are often not even included in the running for a GOTY, to simply attribute a games metacritic scoring to its chances of winning a GOTY is lazy logic.

You ask what does meta have to do with GoTY (me saying most GoTY come from 90+ games), i answered and you point out few sites that pick games not reviewed as high, yet games that majority pick for GoTY do indeed have 90+

Examples

2014= DA

2013= TLoU/GTAV

But hey, you must be correct, so i'll just throw all of this out the window. Thank you my eyes are opened........ (Yayyyy!!!!)

Not sure if its not known, but the last sentence was a joke :000

I'm sure that most of those will win GOTY awards from various places. Because of that, to me GOTY isn't a big deal.
