You ask what does meta have to do with GoTY (me saying most GoTY come from 90+ games), i answered and you point out few sites that pick games not reviewed as high, yet games that majority pick for GoTY do indeed have 90+

I Honestly really don't see anything except the Phantom Pain taking the crown this year. It's going to happen I just know it. There are going to be fantastic runner ups and both this year and next year is going to be overwhelming with great games!

This year the GotY award is going to go to Phantom Pain and the game deserves it. There is no doubt in my mind that this game is going to amaze and shock people. Both fans new and old, I do think that the newer fans are going to be caught completely off guard by the BIG twist!

Well to be fair if you look at the site: http://gotypicks.blogspot.ca/ you'll see that every overall GOTY winner of the past decade besides DA:I was 90+ meta, but there were many games not 90+ meta that did win GOTY awards from individual sites and publications.

Just asking but if that is the # of winners for each year, why did everybody say 100+ sites/reviewers gave TLoU GoTY... Seems like its just a bunch of very small reviewers or something?

Then go tell them they&re wrong?, the list i presented are actual publications awards, the type that get referenced on the backs of GOTY boxes, not youtube personality non-existant awards.

Where do you get these numbers ?

2014's GOTY awards show how professionals look down on Nintendo.

Even if XCX get 95%, it won't have more than 1 or 2 awards.

Metal gear will get it because it will be the hail to Kojima.

I expect Xenoblade X to be the most enjoyable and meaty of the bunch though (so, the real winner for me). The witcher 3 may win some aswell, but i am still concerned about the combat, wich was the witcher 2's weak point.

As far as other contenders go, I think Bloodborne, The Phantom Pain, and Arkham Knight have the best chances. Splatoon should be excellent, but I'm unsure it will be as special as the others. It's going to have lower scores than the first, because it actually has hype and attention. It won't surprise people so it's going to under the microscope far more.

 

For the list, I don't think Splatoon or Halo 5 are real contenders. Batman may be much stronger than people give it credit for.

No, I don't wonder why people are critical of Xenoblade. Are you suggesting it's because the series has fans? I'm basing my prediction off the fact that the first Xenoblade was my favorite game last generation, so there's every reason to believe its spiritual sequel will be my favorite this generation. That's all. I'm not trying to invite criticism of the game or my opinion.
