No, your example doesn't hit, as it was counted only if user-score AND critics-score both were above a certain threshold. So user-scores obviously weren't seen as a legitimate measure of quality.

Wow, that really is the pinnacle of a good critic.

Why do people even look at the userscores? Wtf?

Yep, they are worthless.

....although some people consider Metacritic userscores to be a legitimate measure of quality.

I don't consider it legitimate but it gives an indication, though and I wouldn't know where to look elswhere before I purchase a game if I did not pre-order it.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I just read a 0 out of 10 review for not being on the Xbox One.

Wonder how long that'll last. Seems legit!

If user scores are included, then they are seen as a legitimate measure of quality, or at least a way to stack the numbers in Nintendo's favour. Drop the user score condition and watch how drastically the lists change. There are many games for Xbox, and Playstation consoles that were not counted because the user score did not meet the 85+ level, despite the critic scores being above that level. Many games will have this huge gap between critic scores and user scores due to troll user reviews.

If you take the time to read through the individual user reviews and see what the criticisms of the game actually are (while ignoring the troll reviews), then it can potentially give you an indication of the game's quality. But just looking at the average user score is useless.

The same could be said of critic reviews. Ignore the average score, or even the individual scores and read the actual review itself.

That guy put's the "user" in user score, clearly! What, with his not owning the hardware to play the software and all. I haven't seen this kind of media bashing since the jebus squad attacked the Noah movie.
