He thinks he is the 'typical gamer' that should be targeted at. So if there is a remaster he doesnt like, or a indie game, he feels he is being screwed. He doesn't realise there are millions of other categories of gamers which all want different things, some same, some different as him.

Thats not what I meant. They are never justified. It just goes to show that games are no longer the main reason people buy consoles...

Well that makes no sense, but if so, so what. Some people like different things to you, some people like movies more than games, some people prefer 2d sidescrollers more than action rpgs. Which is why companies release more than one types of games to cater to a variety of audiences. If people buy consoles for reasons other than games, so be it.

There is nothing bad about remasters IMO.

The people who will buy & play remasters are those who never played the original, or those who liked the original so much they are willing to buy again.  Like for me I didn't play GTA V on PS3/360, and when I played it on PS4 it's one of my favorite games played in 2014.

For those who hate remasters, why do you want to deny those who want to play the games? Why does it even have anything to do with you?

There's nothing good or bad about remasters. If you've played the game already you can simply ignore it. If not, then you can enjoy the new experience. I always hear people say "Why did they remake that when they can work on something else?" as if studios have everyone employed there only working on one thing at a time.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not even interested in remastered versions that are also on PC. I just crank up the sliders of these games if I want to play them again on faster hardware and have "remastered" it myself.

But I know many people who don't like PC gaming and want the best console version with the least compromises instead.

Too bad he's too busy being depressed to realize that:

1. He dooesn't have to buy the software and

2. Not everyone played all the games released in the 7th gen.
