Personally, I see it as the latter, apparently allot of Nintendo fans are seeing it the other way.

It's a friendly jab. He grew up with Nintendo and considers Miyamoto to be his biggest influence.

I think it's just more a silly jest, like you said, at the nature of the mobile game industry. He even says he's trolling, which someone trolling just doesn't do. He needs look no further than the current stock price to see that this is just good strategy by Nintendo.
