Forums - Nintendo - A scenario when Wii U sell +5 million this year.

If Nintendo refuses to lower the price (which I understand) then they have to do more bundles. That's just a good way to boost sales without losing profit.

Two price drops in about 5 months is near impossible, given that they don't like price drops in the first place...

Plus, wouldn't a $150 Wii U will be even cheaper than a $200 n3DS?

If a $150 price cut is what it takes to sell 5 million in a year then I think they are better off keeping it at $299.

That is what is happen for XBO, 500$ to 320$ in a year...

Ok......not really sure what ur point is?

Wii U is most likely going to sell 3 million or so this year regardless, would an extra 2 million sales be worth it when ur making half as much revenue off ur hardware while also selling it at a huge loss?

Nintendo is way better off selling their hardware at a profit than to take huge losses with the hope of a couple million extra sales.

I don't Nintendo has the money to lose, by making hefty price drops and cheap bundles, at this point. Last quarter, they had to halt Wii-U manufacturing just to turn a profit.

Sales in Japan though... the bump in North American ones are barely enough to cover what Nintendo's losing in its native country.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

What?

Nord America is the most important market ever, Wii U actually is up YOY thanks the US.

100$ and 150$ price drop? China release? No way! Wii U will sell 3-4M this year.

May: Splatoon bundle

June: Official price drop 299,99$ ---> 199,99$; Atomic E3

July: Mario Maker

August: good gamescom with other annunced

September: Wii U released in China; XCX bundle in the US and EU

October: Star FOX U

November: Another Pricedrop 199,99$ ---> 149,99$;  Zelda U+WiiU Bundle at 149,99$, MK8+SSBU+WiiU bundle at 129,99$ during Black Friday

December: WiiU + 3 Amiibo and a game's for 149,99$

( NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, IS ONLY A POSSIBLE SCENARIO )

pricedrop to 199 may happen, 149 is not gonna happen because it would'nt make financial sense.

Your releases are late, we'll probably get those games sooner than that.

So, all that you said won't happen but wii u should still easily sell 5m+.
