Forums - Nintendo - Captain Toad, Kirby, possibly Splatoon... Yoshi delayed next in PAL? And so on?

Tagged games:

I think it's possible. I'm hoping we'll have Kirby early May and Splatoon at the end of May. It's entirely possible: May 1st is a Friday after all, which would leave plenty of room in the release calendar for Splatoon.

We're due a Direct soon, I think, now that New 3DS's Western launch is well and truly out of the way. 3DS's release slate post-May is barren in the West, and while Wii U has a good slate of software confirmed, there are no release dates for a bunch of titles that should be out before E3; I'm thinking Yoshi, Mario Maker and one of the Project titles could all be out by July. Sad thing is that leaves Nintendo's slate over-reliant on side scrollers. The real variety (and quality) will likely be the second half software.

But if an English version was already done for the US, why should English speaking countries like the UK, Australia and New Zealand have to wait on French, German, and Italian language versions?

That is something i have asked myself many times. I think those of who have no problems with english, which in addition to UK, Australia and New Zealand includes Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland have suffered long enough because some European nations are too lazy to read and learn english. Sorry for going off topic, it is just something that has bothered me since 1993

Movies, books, video games and other media are getting translated because many people prefer their entertainment in their own mother language or because they like to have a choice between different languages they can understand. So why force English (or Japanese) on them if they have less fun that way. Sorry that your language ain't important enough to have that choice in most games and movies.

The main contributor to your "suffering" is Nintendo's outdated region-locking-model, otherwise you could import US-versions if you prefer English. You could also import Japanese games which aren't released in the West if you are fluent in that language.

It has nothing to do with the translation, they should know by now that Europe has more than one language, they should be and are prepared for that.

If anyone remembers, last year Nintendo closed their European headquarters in Großostheim, and moved it to Frankfurt. They admitted that the relocation will probably cause some delay. Of course they wanted to get Smash U done in time, so Captain Toad and Kirby got the short end of the stick. It makes sense, they are budget titles after all, and Kirby isn't even that popular in Europe.

Nevertheless, Captain Toad was originally set to release on January 9, but was moved to January 2, and even December in some stores. Kirby was originally planned for the 2nd half of 2015, but is now May 8. They're working really hard to make up for the delays. I think Splatoon will make it in time. I have no worries.

Good point. I hope you're right, but Kirby and Splatoon both in one month doesn't seem like their M.O.

Well, Kirby is May 8, and I already expected Splatoon to be a late May release, like Mario Kart 8, so I don't see how that isn't possible. Kirby isn't popular in Europe either, and that's probably an understatement: Kirby games often sell like shit over here. I don't think that it'll affect Splatoon sales in any way, so that shouldn't affect Splatoon's release date either. Furthermore, Nintendo has released multiple games in a month before, I even recall several occasions of two games on the same day (Link's Crossbow Training and Pokémon Battle Revolution for example, DKC: Returns & Mario All-Stars, and New Super Luigi & Pikmin 3 as well).

EDIT: About the Splatoon release date. If we assume it's a late May release, May 29 (on a Friday) would be a good candidate, and that still 3 weeks after Kirby's release date. I think it's definitely possible.

Because in certain cases it was either in english or not at all. Think Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Chrono Trigger in the days of NES and Super NES

I really hope Yoshi and Splatoon won't get delayed! I don't really care for the new Kirby game, but I would be very upset if the first two would get delayed!

May 30th was my estimated release date for Australia. (Major Nintendo releases tend to land of Saturdays here)

I just hope you're right, the delays are getting tiresome.

That Splatoon rumor is false.

Guilty. XD

I am replaying Captain Toad to get the gems and secrets I missed, as well as hitting the Monster Hunter 4 grindstone, so I am okay for the moment...
