I think it's possible. I'm hoping we'll have Kirby early May and Splatoon at the end of May. It's entirely possible: May 1st is a Friday after all, which would leave plenty of room in the release calendar for Splatoon.

We're due a Direct soon, I think, now that New 3DS's Western launch is well and truly out of the way. 3DS's release slate post-May is barren in the West, and while Wii U has a good slate of software confirmed, there are no release dates for a bunch of titles that should be out before E3; I'm thinking Yoshi, Mario Maker and one of the Project titles could all be out by July. Sad thing is that leaves Nintendo's slate over-reliant on side scrollers. The real variety (and quality) will likely be the second half software.
