Only fighting games i really enjoy are Tekken and Smash co-op, mainly because their easy, tekkens a bit more complicated but the combo's are responsive, whenever i play streetfighter no matter how many times i press the combo it only works like 1/5th of the time, maybe i'm just crap at the game :L

Because Street Fighter has more links.  I will get into all of that in my explaination video.  You cannot cancel attacks when you do links.  Attack canceling is chaining them.  There's a huge fundamental difference between each, and Street Fighter IV has both types of combos.  Tekken has links, but the hit-stun is longer, but there's a buffer window.

You can press square, then chain into triangle on your controller, and your character will do that move AFTER he's done his first attack.  Can't do that in Street Fighter.  You have to press that button directly after your first attack has ended.  The combo portion of Tekken is easier than street fighter, however, overall, Tekken is a harder game to play.

But that's why your combos aren't working in Street Fighter IV.  Those are links, not chains don't treat them like it.

I'll have to watch the video you make to understand the difference tbh, but i can see what your saying

But I do have to ask, what would this upgrade/new mechanic be?

The upgrade would be to throw out all the outdated crap and artificial entry barriers installed when games were pastime for kids leeching on parent's quarters in arcades. If FPS were so hellbent on keeping every single relic from ancient times as FG are, Call of Duty would be a game about running in 30 levels of maze and collecting red/blue/yellow keys and gold from secret areas.

Another good thing would be moving FG to f2p so the stream of new players won't run dry in 2 weeks, causing the entire population to polarize around ultra-hardcore. AI that actually follows a reasonable meta instead of blatant cheating would be nice too.

Your logic is lost a little because you while you suggest that it needs to change, your examples are confusing. Doom FPS was never popular in the arcades, it wasn't about eating up quarters like fighters or side scrolling beat-m-ups. Doom was a PC game. And F2P? You mean like Tekken Revolution, DoA Ultimatee, Soulcalibur: Lost Swords and Killer Instinct? Not sure on their success but all F2P.

Fighting games are still relevant, unlike beat-m-ups, that genre of game is basically dead. Yet I'm still not sure how fighting games would be updated from the arcade fighting style anyway. They aren't supposed to be realisitic (UFC, boxing and Wrestling games exist for that), they are meant to be quick and fun.

Hmm, pie.

No they aren't. On twitch, non-smash fighting games are consistently outperformed by Euro Truck Simulator. Combined.

Capcom can probably make more money now by making Hearstone clone with Ryu paint over it than by making SFV. I don't know why they bother wasting good franchise on game which is not even niche nowadays.

So each iteration of each game sells millions and they have gaming tournaments where the prize money is thousands and your reason for why they aren't relevant is Twitch? Some weird idiots who play certain games for 'quirkiness' for views and a few dollars in advertising?

Let me know when Simulator games have a gaming tournament, then we will talk.

I'm pretty sure many companies can make a lot of profit from just mobile games, that cost $10,000 to make and rake in 500k users paying $1 each for them around the world but sometimes, that's not what people want.

Hmm, pie.

Isn't the sun too bright and high in the sky for all these trolls to be out and about like this? Anyway, I'm starting the video, guys.

I love fighting games, so I have not much to add other than how infuriatingly frustrating some of the excuses here are to read.

Amen.

Agreed

Its sad to see some very ignorant posts such as fight games dont have artist depth, they are boring and that fighting game sequels are nothing new from its predecessors....

Alas that is there opinion, one i dont share so my opinion might not be valid in your research as i think any good fighting game is like chess.

As a gamer that loves fighting games, i love learning a new game with new mechanics and not have it hold my hand.

Lets not confuse Twitch community streaming to success.

Killer Instinct already has millions of players who has downloaded it, and i can guarantee the same will be said with Mortal Kombat X and Street Fighter V.

And if you really want to talk about streaming fighting games then watch EVO which is when people really watch streaming for fighting games.

As for youtube go watch people like Maximillian.

So there is a much bigger fighting community out there than youre letting on

I may have to type up a script.. I cannot get two sentences without freezing up and forgetting what I was going to say. :P

Just curious.  Is there a good reason?

They don't do anything for me. No etertainment, no satisfaction, no point, but I can see why others would like them.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

I play fighting games, but only locally. So, either against the computer or couch multiplayer. If I go online, it's only with friends I know, not random matchups. Too much is at stake with games as sensitive as fighting games. Unless you have a pristine internet connection with absolutely no hiccups during the match, the winner....wins in a one sided fashion. If my internet lags just a microsecond, the other guy has landed 10 hits on me and I'm almost dead outta nowhere.

It started with SCIV, then SF4, then MK. Then I was like...enough is enough. I'm not even gonna try
