Did they say something about new games for the N3DS, or everything goes to the regular 3DS too?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I seriusly want Reggie as ceo.

Really? Let's look:

* Xenoblade, Last Story, Pandoras Tower only got released after massive fan begging, despite being localized by NoE long time ago

* no New 3DS (only XL) in US

* very limited Amiibo-shippings

I don't want Reggie worldwide, as then he will impact my Nintendo-experience as a european too.

And look how those games sold after the demand rose that much. Demand = More sales over lifetime.

XL was a very logical move for Nintendo. The fact is the XL outsells the regular 3ds by a lot in N.A. and people who are going to upgrade (myself included) are probably willing the spend the extra bit of money to get the bigger screen. I had no interest in upgrading from the regular 3ds to the 3ds xl, but I DID upgrade from the 3ds to the New 3ds XL. There would have been a lot of lost profit if they had to market, develop, ship, and maintain two devices as opposed to just the one. And it makes it way less confusing for consumers than it could have been. We already have 3ds, 3ds xl, 2ds, and the New 3ds XL, do we really need the 5th? Again, the main amount of people upgrading probably would get the xl if they had a choice by a wide margin.

Again, limited supply = more demand = more sales. Remember when no one and their grandmothers could finds Wiis anywhere in 2006? That created a MASSIVE amount of demand. Nintendo knows what they are doing. They are the master of profit in the gaming industry.

Last year, Iwata was in a corner and talking about anything to try and make things look as positive as possible :P.  To some degree, talking out of his rear.

This year, Iwata and company are on the road to profits, things are looking a lot better than last year.  No they aren't on top of the world, but he doesn't have to talk about stuff that obviously is a looong ways away to make things sound pretty :P

They're still in a corner. They've had to lower their already low sales expectations, and both of their console are showing signs of nearing the end of their cycles. Especially the 3DS.

To add to this, their recent profits are due in large part to favorable currency fluctuations. If things had stayed similar to the beginning of the fiscal year, they would still be taking a loss.

So they didn't expect scalpers to sell amiibos for high prices and certain figures are way more popular than they can supply, but they're still planning one-time run amiibos?

Nintendo why are you so dumb?

I'm guessing manufacturing schedules plays a big role here: they can only pump out so many units (without buying more manufacturing capacity) at a time, and they've got 50 or so figures to make in just the Smash Bros line. Better, they figure, to just stop making new Wii Fit Trainers than to restart a line to satisfy a few thousand customers.

I read "amiibo cards" while skimming through this thread. When and how much?

2015 and Less Than The Figures, respectively.

So you repeating the statement of NoA regarding New 3DS, that american customers aren't smart enough to understand the different models, why europeans are. Do you really believe that? Also: changeable faceplates.

You don't create much demand with limited supply. People that were not interested in the first place, will not be swayed by limited supply. The Wii was a phenomenon, because of word of mouth. The rainfall-games sold not better than you would expect in the comparison europe<->america. Pandora's Towers nearly was the same in both regions, something you wouldn't expect, normally America is the bigger market.

You heard me! I loved the N64, but the controller wasn't comforatable at all. Your hands were not symetrical, the joy stick was at the center and there was only one, with three awkward prongs to hold on to. It was ugly and horrible. It's amazing that Nintendo followed it up by giving us the gamecube controller, the most comforatable controller ever made in my opinion. Gamecube is STILL better than any modern controller imo.

Just because NoE thinks it is a good idea to do it doesn't mean it is. I can't speak for Europe but there is STILL a MASSIVE amount of confusion over Nintendo devices dating back to the dsi/dsi xl with all the 3ds variations. I still see clueless 30-40 somethings walk into walmart looking for the newest stuff walking away with ds's thinking that's the good stuff. People that aren't passionate about games can't keep up with all these ridiculous letters and numbers that mean nothing to them. If Europe wants to confuse more people, good for them, but at least Americans won't be as confused.

Yes they will. I myself had no itnerest in the New 3ds, until I kept hearing reports of them being sold out everywhere. It excited me. It got me thinking there is something to this new thing. I thought it isn't just a remodel, but it is a slight upgrade. I jumped and pre-ordered one to make sure I got one. I wouldn't have been NEARLY as excited (and probably wouldn't have gotten it) if I didn't feel the pressure/excitement about lack of enough. I remember when the Wii came out and no one could find one. We had friends that competed with others or would report when new shipments came in. My own brother bought one for us when his girlfriend (at the time) wanted one and made her go get her own lol. It brings out the worst in people but also their money. Short supply = more demand, that is basic economics.

What game ever made u use all three prongs? U either held the left or middle prong since they served the same purpose (D-pad/analog for movement, trigger/shoulder button). U would have to be retarded to try holding onto all three prongs at once.

The metacritic mention is pathetic on Iwata's part. How desperate is this guy? WOW.
