The upgrades you can buy are laughable. Just a few points of strength and accuracy. Junctions have a way bigger effect. Just run away after you're done drawing magic. Nothing good comes from battles. Heck, if you have the no encounter skill with Diablo just use it.

It's the only way to get Squall's other Limit Breaks though. Lionheart is really fucking powerful.

But I wouldn't recommend it skipping every battle. You'll turn the game into a "just walk from point A to point B and hope there's a boss at point B" kind of game.

If my memory doesn't fail me Squall's limit breaks depend on the weapon he's using so I don't see why he couldn't get it.

That's the most efficient way to beat the game. If you don't like it blame the developer for making the game the way they did. If they wanted the player to fight enemies it was as easy as rewarding the player for doing so. But instead they decided to punish the player for killing enemies.

Yeah, you need to upgrade Squall's weapon to get the other limit breaks. It's pretty much the only weapon upgrade that matters.

And I can see your point, but I wouldn't say it's THE most efficient way of beating the game. By using Mug (plus a little exploring), I actually managed to find all the items for Squall's Lionheart without even noticing it, for example =P

But it's actually one of the many ways of breaking the game, yes.

Low level run is the best because enemies level up when you do and they get way better stat gains nor they're limited to 9999HP like your characters.

The only reason to level up is to defeat Omega Weapon who is always level 100, and to get the most of your level ups you need to equip the Strength+1 etc when level up abilities which you don't get until late in the game, and to get the most level ups with them equipped you need to stay at low level until you get all four of them (and a way to equip 4 abilities at the same time).

Good game. Not my personal fav, but certainly top ten anyway.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Unlike many that I have read in here I LOVE FFVIII, especially Triple Triad card game. Just about everywhere you go to plays by a different set of rules. Can sometimes annoy you, but it adds more life to the card game.

One of the few that I have played numerous times.

Seriously though, play FFIX next.

I'll play FF9 after I finish 8, was planned this way long ago xD

The Triple Triad game is somewhat fun, but my cards sucks a lot, I need to collect some nice ones so I stop losing to almost everyone I challenge  It reminds a little about Digimon World 3 because of the card game, but DW3 card game was way better.

I'm not happy with the fact I apparently won't get money based on my battles but only in determined periods based on my ranks, that's just not what I expect from a RPG... really. But oh well, seems like I can draw from free some really useful magic from enemies so I can use less items but still... I'll need money to new weapons or upgrades, and I want to be able to get it when I need it. I'm still in the very beggining, so that might still change though (don't tell me).

The battle system until now seems... ok I guess. The music is still not on FF7 level by any means, the graphics seems nice, too much pixelated and sometimes it get really strange but most of the times it seems good and detailed, the backgrounds at least in the cities are amazing, and the CGs are superb, it's being a decent game until now, but seems like all FF games I play it take me some good time to really start to like so I'll not even think about judging it yet.

Do the seed exams to get some more money if you really need it. Though money won't be a problem later in the game.

The music will get better later on. The final dungeon features my favorite FF music. I'd say the music is at least on par with FFIX.

Don't fixate too much on the gameplay. Just enjoy the story and the awesome CGI :)

Oh man, I loved that spider crab thing. First time ever fought it was in the FFVIII demo that came with my PSMagazine WAYYYY back in the day.

I feel fucking old as dirt now.

Spoiler alert:

Squall remains an ass. Like, through the entire game. And ofr no reason. Okay, there's a reason, but it's a pretty shitty one.

Nice review, when you dwell into the FF7 universe the story get's much deeper, you really should play FFVII Crisis Core now that you finished FF7, it'll make you appreciate certain characters and understand others a little better.
