Because you don't have to pay for a controller that costs an extra $100.

Nope. Just for a PC, tablet, or smart phones. That run windows. Even if you already have either they still cost more than $100.

No ones buying a PC to stream Xbox one games lol, they already have it hence its free.  That's like me saying you have to pay every month to play your Wii U since you have to pay for electricity, no people already have electricity.

I kinda wish the GamePad would start being used in more inteesting ways.. :/

I agree with Aquiteguy, I can see where you are coming from the other devices have uses outside of gaming but if you want to play with just touch controls there are a bevy of games for you already on smart phones.  Personally I like physical controlls. Also you will need Windows 10 if you want to play through your PC if I'm not mistaken.

But Windows 10 is gonna be free.  I also don't get what you mean by touch controls?  If you use your smart phone to stream Xbox one games you just use the Xbox one controller.

I keep reading this all over gaming threads. Yet no one says how it should be used.  Further more, I have see the pad used well in many games. Off screen along justifies the pad. But i really love managing items without having to pause. Plus, as I always say, I wish I had the pad for the water temple in the Orcarina of Time. Having to pause all the time to change boots got really annoying. The key is to use as needed,  which is whats happing.  How is it not being used and how would you use it?

You've got the second screen on the 3DS to do that in Ocarina of Time 3D. There you go.

You also have the second screen on the pad.

I know, so? I wasn't complaining about it, actually, I don't like having a second screen on the pad, it's not ok going from the TV to the pad, not comfty, the 3DS dual screens are actually much more comfortable, since those are close to each other.

@ bolded IF you have a current PC and all the hardware inside is compatible with windows 10.  I lost several devices (my KVMP switch is the one that really irked me) when going to Windows 7.

As for your last sentence, fair enough I didn't know that. Does a smart device allow for asymetrical gameplay?

I don't really know what you mean by asymetrical gameplay.  Here's the video Microsoft released on the feature.

The big issue about the game pad has always been the change of focus. It's not only dizzying, but it's distracting in some cases.

It means in multiplayer games you have your own screen that shows your perspective. It's like split screen but both players have a full screen to themselves.  I found it most useful in COD. You can't just look at the other half of the screen to see where your opponent is shooting from.  Very akin to playing others online only you don't need two systems to do it.

this shows it off a bit skip to the 1:13 mark
