I'd love to see the 3ds beat it because I think it's a better handheld with what might be the best library of game of any handheld, even if you don't count ds backwards compatibility and vc games. I also don't want the large scale decline of handheld console gaming to be a reality.

My PSP did get lots of use... for emulation. For it's own games I wouldn't say it was close to being the best handheld ever, There were a handful of games I loved but many of it's big high profile games (such as gods of war, little big planet, gta and wipeout) just didn't do it for me. At least on a handheld.

The multimedia functionality on a protable was th emost talked about hype of the device for its time. Hence why it launched better tha DS (well in AUS at least). Everyone was putting their  video, music and roms on it. was  great times.

Your logic makes no sense to me. How does that make it the only reason? It's like saying that even if it had zero games, it would have still sold 80m. You can say the main reason, but the only makes zero sense. 

No I am saying the only reason it reached 80million not total sales. THe multimedia functionalty added on top of the base number, which i reckon would have been closer to 50 million.

First Nintendo handheld GameBoy was sold 120m, and DS was sold nearly twice of PSP, just saying.

Little too early to say "There is no chance that another handheld can beat the PSP".

Yeah 3DS will end up around 70-75m. I could see 4DS declining to 50-60m if not worse. Handhelds are dying brahs. It's time to accept it.

Why are you using the PSP as the handheld to beat? There were 3 Nintendo Handhelds that outsold the PSP.

 

Nintendo DS - 154.88m

Nintendo Gameboy - 118.69m

Nintendo Gameboy Advance - 81.51m

Playstation Portable - 80.82m

Nintendo 3DS - 50.57m+

 

Reasons why the 3DS isnt selling better is because of its own competition. The 2DS and New 3DS are reasons why it wont hit past 80 million units. It doesnt have to either as the 3DS has passed the torch to the New 3DS to take over.

PSP best handheld? Thats clearly your opinion. Thats completely different to my opinion.

I think every handhels since 2004 has had a rocky first year. 3DS was overpriced and made Nintendo panic, the Vita went nosedive after its first months (both PSP and 3DS sold more), the PSP had that hardware problem that threw the discs flying, and even the DS got a lot of problems with consoles breaking in half.
