I don't get why so many people want music and movie playback. It's such a waste of energy to use the PS4 for that. That thing uses like what, 200 W or something? Why not just hook up your smartphone, Apple TV, Chromecast or whatever with your TV? Hell, even your laptop will save you energy like there's no tomorrow! Why would anyone in the world still want to use a gaming console for that?

That said, I miss the option for a custom background. Themes are nice and all, but I just want to use my own pictures. Other than that, I'm quite happy with the PS4. Gaming works smooth as silk and those installation times are so friggin' fast that it still amazes me to this very day. That's what truly counts imo.

I will once again repeat,  it has all the features I need and many more in don't.  In relation to the hard drive my 1.5tb HDD is doing just fine.  

I don't know about others but I want MP3 playback for custom soundtracks. For example, for years I built custom soundtracks/sounds for mlb the show. Mlb 14's atmosphere felt lacking without the custom sounds. 

I am not worried by how long these updates are taking. With the move to X86 I knew it would take time. The only concern I have is that all of this carries over to PS5, if it does eventually come out.

For now I am happy with pretty much everything PS4 does, and very exited about the new features that are already stated to come in the next month. My only hope going forward is we see the ability to do all of the non gaming, non media things PS3 was capable of. PDF documents, printing, photo editing, video editing. I miss these features more than anything.

I will never use anything, but Playstation products to make phone calls, browse the web, watch youtube, pay bills, watch netflix, blu-rays, digital films, or listen to music, and soon live television.. Buying a seperate device to do all of these things that I can already do on the Playstation is a much bigger waste of money than the small amount it costs every year in extra energy use.

I don't understand how this could possibly be a complaint. Why would you expect Sony to basically blow their load right at the start? At least this way, new features can have time to develop so that they can work great when they do release, and we won't hit that point anytime soon where there's nothing Sony can really add that enhances the gaming experience on PS4. It's fine as is anyways, and I'm a patient person. I'm okay with waiting for new features to come.

Suspend-resume would be nice, and Playstation Music will hopefully be well priced. Aside from what is already announced, I would like a Daily Log like they have on Nintendo systems.

Sony have been slower than MS in adding media functions, but then they were always going to be. Sony on the other hand have been clearly better than MS with the more gaming-focused updates, like Share Factory and Share Play.

agreed. shareplay is a huge feature for example that others dont have. 

But that is already possible, you just need an USB-Stick. Don't you have one of those? There are not that expensive anyway...

Why don't you get yourself a PlayStation TV for things like that? Saves you a lot of energy and it can already do all of the things you mentioned. Yes, YouTube gets scrapped, but it will still work in the browser. Just visit youtube.com/tv, it's almost the same as the app on PS4.

I can care less about most updates, as i just play games on my gaming consoles. The only feature they announced back then that they don't have yet, that i may actually use is the suspend/resume play feature.

whats the biggest size you can get for a 2.5 external hdd?, cause in nz , its sadly just 1tb which is way too small for me.
