Forums - Sony - PS4 is getting new features very slow. What do you think?

Its not profitable to give the gamers everything they had on the ps3. No media player when they can sell stuff on PSN. Same with music and backwards compatibility.

Still waiting on that suspend/resume Sony

*taps foot*

Platinums: Red Dead Redemption, Killzone 2, LittleBigPlanet, Terminator Salvation, Uncharted 1, inFamous Second Son, Rocket League

Console features? I don't particularly care...

I have been saying this for a while now. Yes I feel the PS4 is slow with the updates but in a way I also understand why they aren't rushing them out.

None of the features lacking right now are things that would make someone not buy a ps4. And while its easy to list out things that the XB1 has or now has, there are a lot of things that are way more important to gamers that the PS4 always/now has that still haven't come to the XB1.

I really would wish that the PS4 gets more and more features thrown in, I've just stopped expecting miracles to happen. Or accept that most of the things we would want aren't integral to making the best gaming console possible. Which is clearly where Sony's focus is.

as for features, funny thing is that the PS4 already does almost everything I want it to do. all I need now is video playback support from internal/external HDD. that's it.

you are so wrong, WRONG!!!, nah just kidding i agree 100% XD, im not worried about it because it does have everything that a gaming console should have and the only thing i do want and i feel it should have is (the stuff i bolded in youre comment) video playback and External HDD support, mainly to watch some anime on it, (i still use my PS3 for that but it would be nice if the PS4 could do that as well.

Not trying to damage control, but I am okay with where the system is overall. Notifications for when friends get online would be nice, as would a game suspend / resume feature, but it's not like I find myself often wishing for either. It is really odd that premium avatars are still inaccessible on PS4, though.

... go back to pre-release PS4 and look at what they promised, we should be there now and they should be expanding on that. Instead we arent even close to it yet and it doesnt look any closer than we did at launch.

No, I think in general,  people need something to complain about. What will people demand when all demands are met...?  Less features obviously!  Lol.

on the ps3, the frequent updates made people be like "urgh, update AGAIN?", and now its like, omg wheres my updates? :(

More features will come, but at the end of the day, its a games console, and it plays games, while more features would be nice, that isn't why 95% + buy them.

Slow updates arent limited to just ps4 either, xbox one players have been waiting for how long for screenshot functionality?

Basically this ^

I only use my consoles for gaming, but I'm sure many ppl use some of its other features.

Its very unlikely any of the secondary features affect sales in a substantial way though.

Still waiting for external harddrive support.

I could care less about stuff like that, i buy consoles for gaming. The ps4 offers cool stuff tough like recording your game for 15m, shareplay and i heard the xbox hasnt any voice messages anymore
