Forums - Sony - Naughty Dog Is Not Looking To Make Cartoony Games Anymore

What a shame cause I loved Jak and Crash :( for some reason Uncharted and TloU don't call my attention.

I don't know if anybody noticed the horrible sales of Sly 4, the lastest cartoony exclusive PS title? Knack The Turd only sold well because it was a launch title. The Playstation fanbase isn't looking for those anymore, despite the quality it can deliver.

I would rather have the Studio that made Puppeteer take the reins. With guidance from Naught Dog, it would be magical.

Oh, God damn it.. I really want Jak 4 and Crash 4 to happen!

Shame.

Cartoony console games don't sell anymore unless they have Mario and co. (and even those IP are experiencing a down turn in sales), LEGO licensed games, or Skylanders/Disney Infinity type stuff.

Puppeteer, LittleBigPlanet 3, LBP Karting, Tearaway, all kinda flopped. Even's MS' Sunset Overdrive with it's more cartoony look did not do so great.

People are voting with their wallets and saying for home console they want more realistic looking games, unfortunately I think because cartoony games often have more charm. But what can you do.

A cartoony Naughty Dog game would probably only sell 1/3 of what The Last Of Us did.

WTF!?!? Jak's story was awesome. WHAT THE FUCK ND!?

Maybe they don't wanna make fun games anymore.

They're taking themselves too seriously. Seriously though, fuck you too ,ND.

What's fun about platformers? Boring as hell. Unless you're 7.

Why? So you don't want to take risks in making cartoony games anymore?

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Of course!

I mean.... TLOU was clearly for kids. Nothing about it was mature. Like... At all.

Whoosh, right over your head.

No. The point stands either way.

You obvioulsy have no idea what you're talking about...

Anyway, it makes sense for them. They have critical and commercial succes with their current games and apparantly they enjoy it so no reason to change their direction. Maybe in a few years time they'll have a different opinion.
