Too bad. The only next gen games where they could reach 60fps :P

Look at Wind Waker. It had one of the most moving yet charming yet also dark stories in Zelda while looking so happy. However when you really think of the context it's fairly deep and very well done. I mean if sealing away a kingdom is not enough how about comitting suicide to save two children to preserve the future. Stabbing a guy in the head and he smiles about it. WW was a bittersweet game. Story about a doomed land and sacrifice.
To be honest, I'm glad. I often LOVE cartoony and highly stylised graphics. But I think Naughty Dog are in there element as they are right now and are trumping every other competing studio in the process.
The team has mentioned on multipleoccasions that the artistic style of the studio is "realism".
That is who they are now. And they are good at what they do.

On the one hand I disagree. On the other hand the bar is very high for making such games that will succeed both critically and in sales. And it seems most of the market for these games resides on Nintendo consoles, and while it's a fairly small market it is a market that buys those games enthusiastically...when Nintendo makes / publishes them.
Naughty Dog's next task is to rather than make a new game with a self contained story, and then think about sequels after the game succeeds, make a game with a fully realised (but untold) back story and at least skeletoned multi-game story or series of stories that tie together in a solid narrative.

Well there goes any hope for a nice colourful less mature game from ND for me.
Then again I always have Nintendo for that and they are better at that anyway.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
rme at all of the "ND takes themselves too seriously". Well, I'd rather they take themselves too seriously and keep producing A+ games like LoU. Face it, Jak and Daxter is over. Some things end. It's okay. Not everyone needs to be the next Mario or Sonic with a never ending series.
Great news. ND has worked hard to establish themselves as one of the top developers, and there is no neef for them to regress to childish cartoons. They have shown that they can tell a great story, and that they have great technical expertise.
Leave the cartoons and kiddie stuff behind, the market fir that stuff is slowly evaporating and moving onto phones.
Jak and Daxter was always my least favorite the cartoony platformers from the PS2 era. I preferred Sly and Ratchet.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
