I recall interviews for Jak II where they were saying the same thing. "Nobody wants colorful games anymore" or something to that effect. This has been a long time coming.

I remember loving Jack and Daxter and hating the sequel which felt like "Middle School Mature" of forcing grim and dark tones to a world and story that didn't need it. I would argue Uncharted is lighter and has more of a fun tone to it than Jak 2 did. In any event if it means get another game of The Last of US calibre I won't complain at all.

Wow... not only did they say they arent, but tgey just called fans of those games juvenile. That was pretty insulting.

I am not a big fan of their work, but i do think Jak and Daxter was more original than Uncharted and the last of us... even though they went and put guns in it.

The generation of gray and dull continues...

Let's be honest. The sales of those games won't be as good as the ones they get with Uncharted or TLOU. Cartoony games have a hard time, even for Nintendo, and of course they are avoiding the same situation.

Time change and children don't play anymore cutesy cartoons.

Technology caught up with games. It made a lot of sense back then to work with the limitations of the hardware to create anamorphic animals with simple animations and designs also maybe the market for these types of games got a lot smaller. Now obviously Naughty Dog moved on a while ago and the realistic approach they take in designing their games goes in line with the kind of stories they want to tell.

Uncharted and TLOU aren't gray and dull.  ¬_¬
