Forums - Gaming Discussion - Does the PS3 have the most diversity of any console ever?

If you discount the ps1, ps2, Amiga 500, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 etc then... Maybe.

PS2 lacks WRPGs and RTS, and pretty much lacks first person shooters almost. And the Xbox 360 lacks platformers (despite having Banjo Kazooie on the system).

I'm not a fan of that genre but even I know it has lots of FPS:

- Timesplitters games

- Killzone

- Red Faction

- Black

- Project Snowblind

- Urban Chaos

- 007 games

- The Operative

- Darkwatch

I'm sure there's a  lot more. Anyway PS2 has the most diversity, that's common knowledge and one of the reasons why it's the best console.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Yes. I think so. It could've had more 1st party RPGs (where's my 7th gen Legend of Dragoon/Dark Cloud/Rogue Galaxy/Wild Arms/Arc the Lad?) but 3rd parties covered that well.

Bethesda Game Studios: Fallout 3 + The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion + Skyrim
Big Huge Games: Kingdoms of Amalur
Bioware: Mass Effect + Dragon Age

Level-5: Ni no Kuni + White Knight Chronicles
Monolith Productions: Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Namco Tales Studio: Tales of Symphonia + Vesperia + Graces f + Xilia + Xilia 2 + Zestiria

Nippon Ichi Software: Disgaea + The Witch and the Hundred Knight
Obsidian Entertainment: Fallout: New Vegas + Alpha Protocol + Dungeon Siege 3 + South Park: The Stick of Truth

Dark Souls and Valkiria Chronicles aren't JRPGs. Dungeon Crawler and SRPG respectively.

EDIT: Also, The Last of Us is Action Adventure, not just Adventure.

Valkyria Chronicles is a JRPG. The battle system alone doesn't decide that, otherwise you'd have a whole load of subgenres.

Besides Disgaea is there as well, that is way more strategy oriented than Valkyria is. So if that is a JRPG then there shouldn't be any question about Valkyria...

Valkyria Chronicles is a tactical RPG for the sole reason it's played on a tactical map. Like Disgaea, advance wars, FF tactics or Resonance of Fate.

Except T-RPG is an actual genre, while J-RPG is mostly some kind of brand, as there is no J-RPG typical gameplay. We are supposedly talking genre.
