Forums - Gaming - The Game & Console You Always Wanted But Never Had

I was always a Sega fanboy as a kid, and made my switch to Nintendo with the Gamecube. However in the SNES/ Mega drive era i always harboured a secret desire to own a SNES, but kept it to myself because all my "cool" mates hated Nintendo. I remember playing Street Fighter 2 on a cousins SNES and thinking how much it blew away the shitty Mega drive version. Thankfully, thanks to virtual console ive nearly caught up with the Nintendo i missed out on. Moral of the story, follow your own preferences and dont be one of the sheep :)

I always wanted a PS3, the one model backwards compatible with PS2.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Sold my PS2 in the run up to the PS3 launch and then Final Fantasy XII came out.

My PS3 was European and did not play some PS2 games including Final Fantasy XII

Square Enix better release this game for the PS4/Vita

This is the Game of Thrones

There are no consoles that I don't own that I really want. The closest I ever had to the scenario presented in this thread was the Sega Saturn, and the game I wanted to play on it was Panzer Dragoon Saga. I bought a Saturn in 2010 and PDS (and several other games) in 2011.

Dunno... maybe Dreamcast with Shenmue? The other Dreamcast game that interested me was Skies of Arcadia, but I own that one on Gamecube.

I think this applies to pretty much everyone. We've all had one gaming console that we would go to a friend's house to play and wish we had it ourselves, but we never did. For me, that was the GameCube. I grew up as PlayStation child, and I loved my PS2, but something about the GameCube intruiged me. It had a wonderful library, and as a kid, the game that stuck with me was Super Mario Sunshine. I remember going to the doctor's and playing this game with the GameCube in the waiting room and remembering it was unlike anything I'd ever played before.

Today, I still feel the same way about the GameCube. Except now, the game that I desire most for it is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which looks to be one of the most fun RPGs I've ever seen. One day I will quit being lazy and I'll track down a GameCube on eBay or something to play this game (too bad it goes for $85 on Amazon now).

What console and game associated with it have you always been fascinated with but never really got a chance to try out?

sunshine hd is going to happen, now that we now galaxy hd is not (released on vc).

mine is also with the gamecube, which i owned but apparently never bought any good games for. the game? f-zero gx. by the end of the 6th gen, that was still for my money the most impressive game i played. no wonder nintendo don't know what to do with the franchise...

I've own most consoles and still keep those that I like. The one console I always wanted was the Panasonic Q. I had no reason to need it but absolutely loved the look of it. Also some other special edition consoles I've wanted despite having the vanilla version of the same console.

Console: N64
Games: some Nintendo games, Far Cry 3
