Forums - Microsoft - Gamespot: why I'm not excited for Forza 6... because it isn't open world

Not every game has to be open world. Plus if he wants open world just stick with Horizon 2 or something.

nah this one doesn't need to be open world.
A simulator needs to offer official tracks (even though I prefer the invented ones). How is it possible to link say Silverstone with Suzuka and that with Laguna Seca?

Then he should just wait for the next "Horizon" or just continuing playing Horizon 2, the mainline series is not open world. There's probably people out there who prefer the mainline series and I think it's a good thing that they're alternating each year to make both fans happy, this guy just needs a bit of patience.

I agree with this. The last truly phenomenal track racing game was Forza 4. It simply cant be topped, its the most perfect racing game ever made.

Forza Horizon should be the future for the series and racing games in general.

That's pretty much akin to saying "hey I'm not a fan of simulation racers"

Fair enough, but then you're the wrong person to be writing about FM

Yet more reasons to avoid Gamespot. Wouldn't be surprised if this guy wasn't even into Motorsports.

Also what's with journalists and open world anyway? It's like this big new, amazing thing to them or something.  Someone should clue them in that open-world games have been in videogames since the 80's.

"Linear" has been a forbidden word for games for quite some time (as in "it's linear" is somehow the biggest flaw possible), but somehow it got WORSE.

At this point, I fully expect games like Uncharted 4 or the next Gears of War to be criticized for not being open-world =P

And Forza 5 is yet way better than FH2 lol

Forza 5 just didn't have enough content to be better then FH2.  That being said I'm sure that FM6 will have enough content to be better then Horizon 2.  At a minimum it should launch with at least 350 cars and over 20 tracks that wouldn't even take a lot of work.  I'm hoping Turn 10 actually put some effort into it and it launches with at least twice as much content then 5 did so at least 400 cars and 28 tracks.  The car part is probably a lot easier to achieve then the track part since laser scanning and acurately recreating real live tracks takes a lot of work but they could make that easier by bringing back a lot of the old fantasy tracks which don't need to be laser scanned like Fujimi Kaido, Maple Valley Raceway, and Sedona Raceway Park.

FM4 is still my favorite track racing game also, just started to play it again yesterday.  But I think that FM6 might have a chance to be better I doubt it that it will actually launch with more content then FM4 did but the quality might be there especially if the add more open wheel cars and racing cars and add weather effects and a day and night cycle.

Great so now all racing games have to be open world.

Go away and give me my god damn Nurburgring. If you don't like it don't play it, simple as that. Not everything has to be open world god dammit.
