Don't see why not, it's selling significantly better than the PS2, Sony has a track record of supporting their consoles for years into a new generation, great games will come. It has great support from every developer, indies, aaa, whatever. I think it will.

 

EDIT: The PS4 will also be really cheap by the time it's done with, so even more reason to buy one

EDIT: I just read that sony says the PS4 is on track to outsell the 360, exciting stuff

Very possible. And considering the legs on PlayStation consoles, it is the only realistic contender in the category of possible systems to challenge the king console.

Only if "PS5" is stream-based on PS4 hardware (some have discussed this possibility), thus bridging two generations

Otherwise it's difficult because a) Japan; its sales will rise there but not enough for such a feat and b) things will be more split in the US than they were on that generation

So you gotta cut some of those millions in US and Japan. But it'll come closer to it than any other home console

It's outpacing PS2 and the worldwide market has probably grown a lot since the PS2 era. But somehow I don't think it's gonna have the legs.

Nah, i highly doubt the PS4 will be able to match the PS2's longevity. It has far more competition than the PS2 had to deal with, and technology in general has become more front loaded. I can see it passing the PS1/Wii though.
