When will the Xbone overtake the PS4 in the U.S.?

Late 2014 32 2.87%

2nd half of 2015 92 8.25%

2nd half of 2016 12 1.08%

Most evidence we have would indicate: never. We don't know XB1 won November and we can't presume that means it'll win December. Plus, PS4's line up for next year is just so much better than PS4 should easily go back to winning.

1 - then explain June - October, when they were both $399 and PS4 still mopped the floor with XBone

2 - We don't know the effects of it being $349, because as soon as that price launched, bundles with multiple free games + gift cards came out, resulting in the XBone not "really" being $350...then it immediately dropped to $330 for BF. Let's see what Vanilla $350 XBone does (I doubt they go back to $399). But as a side note, if being the cheaper console will always outsell the most expensive console, then Xbox and GCN should have outsold PS2

3 - You really think that DRM, having apps being a paywall, 24 hour check ins, etc. didn't put a sour taste in people's mouths regarding MSs intentions this gen? That's not being delusional. That's being an informed customer. If nobody said anything about what MSs original vision for XBone was, we'd have a piece of machinery that was very detrimental to the games' industry right now.

4 - PS2 launched at $299 in October 2000 (in the US). First price drop was May 2002 to $199. PS1 launched at $299 in September 1995 (in the US). First price drop was May 1996 to $199. PS3 launched at $499/599 in 2006 (in US and Japan) and didn't drop to $399/499 until November 2007. PS1 and PS2 dominated the console market and PS3 at least outpaced 360. Closing the gap has no impact on Sony dropping the price of a Playstation. The fact that they are a hardware company and quickly get the cost of parts reduced and then pass that on to the consumer is what has an impact on Sony dropping the price of a Playstation, whether they are ahead or behind in console sales

1-  Destiny bundle affected the outcome but my statement remains the same. If we go to VGChartz numbers November alone was bigger than July to Octuber total. Also, there were no more months with 2 to 1 sales in PS4´s favor.

2- As I recall the Xbox was always more expencive than the PS2, which also had a lot more exclusives. There is no comparison there.

3- This "sour taste" was only console war BS perpetrated by morons. It was a PR stunt that went wrong and down hill. I spent to much time on that discusion. Just look at the biggest games of the year. Even Mario Cart apeals to online gameplay.  I still stand and would love the XOne to have kept it original vision as a aways online device.

4- What was the last long term 360 or PS3 price drop? And how long did it take the Wii for it´s first price drop? You have to admit that PS4 sales would slow down next year  to them to cut the price in $100.

Wii -> 3 years -$50

360 -> Same price since 2009

PS3 -> Same price since 2009, diferent SKU with larger HD.

If it was gonna happen it would happen when xbox recieves halo 5, the Gears collection and an official 299 pricepoint.

My estimation would be never to be honest. Next year PS4 is gonna benefit from all of the Japanese game fans moving onto the PS4 with persona, FFType 0, street fighter, Deep Down, Yakuza and plenty more.

I chose never

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Never going to happen. It took Xbox One a $70 price cut with two games bundled together, and the release of Halo, and Sunset Overdrive to outsell the PS4 by 300k.

Hopefully never. I see it as an inferior product and the more reason MS has to remove its cancer from this industry, the better

Really, guys? Did common sense just walk out the door? First of all, I think anyone with common sense would admit there must be some overtracking/undertracking going on here, cause there's no way MS beat Sony by ~400K, like VGC shows. This whole year's sales are going against that. IF the PS4 was outsold, it may have been by 100K or so. If the gap was that big, MS would have already been dropping hints, as well as released BF PR.

Second, have you forgot how the sales have gone this year? The PS4 won every month, so far. Some months by over 100K. Do you honestly think the XBO is going to keep this newfound momentum going all year, without any notable exclusives launching until Fall 2015? The drop from 2013 to 2014 says no. Hell, even with exclusives, like Titanfall, the PS4 won.

Finally, and here's the real kicker, the PS4 is 100% getting a pricecut to at least $349 next year, with possibly a BF bundle for $299. We all know how well the XBO competes against the PS4 when they are the same price. Which also means that if MS doesn't keep the pricecut permanent, the PS4 will probably gain back whatever it's lost Nov and Dec (if anything at all) within 2-3 months.

Uhh...Destiny came out in September. June, July, August, October? And PS4 only outsold XBone 2:1 in NPD twice. January (when they got a surge in stock) and May (Kinectless was announced). So outselling 2:1 (in the US) is a bad metric to say that the $399 XBone did "better" than before.

Nope, Xbox undercut PS2 several times. On the very site you use to bring up Wii/360/PS3 sales, you can see that for Xbox

And MSs bullshit was "console war BS perpetrated by morons"??? Well, you said you'd like DRM, so I guess that makes me (and the majority of the gaming community) morons.

And I don't care when the last long term price cut was. You said Sony won't cut PS4s price because they're in the lead. I showed you that Sony doesn't care, whether it be with the dominating PS1/2 or when PS3 was behind in total sales, they got price cuts out relatively quick because they reduced the cost of parts (and subsequently made slim consoles)

I hope Sony going bankrupt, because only Ninentdo is the real gaming company and one western shooter console is enough for the market.
