Let's see what Vanilla $350 XBone does (I doubt they go back to $399). But as a side note, if being the cheaper console will always outsell the most expensive console, then Xbox and GCN should have outsold PS2 3 - You really think that DRM, having apps being a paywall, 24 hour check ins, etc. didn't put a sour taste in people's mouths regarding MSs intentions this gen? That's not being delusional. That's being an informed customer. If nobody said anything about what MSs original vision for XBone was, we'd have a piece of machinery that was very detrimental to the games' industry right now. 4 - PS2 launched at $299 in October 2000 (in the US). First price drop was May 2002 to $199. PS1 launched at $299 in September 1995 (in the US). First price drop was May 1996 to $199. PS3 launched at $499/599 in 2006 (in US and Japan) and didn't drop to $399/499 until November 2007. PS1 and PS2 dominated the console market and PS3 at least outpaced 360. Closing the gap has no impact on Sony dropping the price of a Playstation. The fact that they are a hardware company and quickly get the cost of parts reduced and then pass that on to the consumer is what has an impact on Sony dropping the price of a Playstation, whether they are ahead or behind in console sales |
1- Destiny bundle affected the outcome but my statement remains the same. If we go to VGChartz numbers November alone was bigger than July to Octuber total. Also, there were no more months with 2 to 1 sales in PS4´s favor.
2- As I recall the Xbox was always more expencive than the PS2, which also had a lot more exclusives. There is no comparison there.
3- This "sour taste" was only console war BS perpetrated by morons. It was a PR stunt that went wrong and down hill. I spent to much time on that discusion. Just look at the biggest games of the year. Even Mario Cart apeals to online gameplay. I still stand and would love the XOne to have kept it original vision as a aways online device.
4- What was the last long term 360 or PS3 price drop? And how long did it take the Wii for it´s first price drop? You have to admit that PS4 sales would slow down next year to them to cut the price in $100.

Wii -> 3 years -$50
360 -> Same price since 2009
PS3 -> Same price since 2009, diferent SKU with larger HD.
