Forums - Gaming - can somebody explain to me how a 17 year old port, thats been done before, is a big deal?

while watching the PS Event, an elderly japanse man took stage. all he had to say was "17 years ago" and then the crowed went wild. finally, a remake to one of the beloved games in history is being made. but no, it was just a simple port, which i am sure you can get on the PS3 already, was being announced, and took stage time. and while i was in a completly "wtf" mood, and how is this even considered an announcement mood. the crowd was cheering, as if they just say emma watson and jennifer lawrence make out while leonardo dicaprio wins an oscar and 2pac shoots justin beiber in the face.

how is this even a thing? really, can somebody explain to me? or is this Sony and Square enix trolling?

Yeah, I can understand the reaction to TLOU or MCC, but this was just weird, especially considering it is a straight up port.

You mean FFVII? I think the crowd cheered because a big sign was held up saying 'Applause'. Otherwise most would have said out like "What the hell is this bullcrap?!"

Also, I'm pretty sure if it was Sony in charge of the game they would have made a remake already, SquEnix (the Japanese side at least) have lost it. I'm not even kidding, the company is gone, they hold on to whatever power they once had and strive to me relevant again by rereleasing the games games over and over.

Hmm, pie.

I dont think anyone thinks it is a big deal, people were cheering when they thought it was a remake, now its a port, that's already available on every other PS platform no one cares.

Some will be excited to play it again with trophies.

Is it digital or a physical copy? I wouldn't mind having a new copy to play, as it's an old game. Though I don't go for any of this digital nonsense

People wanted FF7 with next-gen graphics. Instead, they just got yet another port.

Keep in mind the hype that was active going into this event.

Because its one of the greatest, most popular games of all time. Anything Final Fantasy VII is a big deal.

Cause it crushes the dreams of a remake.. no way SE will release this if they had a remake planned within the next 5 years..

for that we applaud them..
