Forums - Nintendo - Smash Bros. Wii U sells over 490,000 units in the U.S., fastest-selling Wii U game ever

Great sales. To bad no word on hardware impact.
On MK8 release, we got the 600% increase statement

The 600% increase number (actually, it was 666%) was in the UK, where sales data gets collected and released within just days of the end of the week. In the US, Nintendo generally waits for NPD data before releasing PR info regarding hardware sales. To demonstrate, here's the NoA press release just after MK8 release:

Well the 3DS has an install base of 40 million, so that makes sense...

The 705k frist 2 day is US only
Ur 40 million install base figure is worldwide

That is true. My bad.lol

It still has 13 million vs 3 million WiiUs though:)

3DS has an install base of 14.4m in the US while the Wii U has 3.2m, over 4x the amount. 490k for Smash Bros. for Wii U is a pretty good figure, considering those circumstances.

That's it?? Not sure if that's suppose to be good news but I'll wait to see how much they've sold in the first week.

What do you mean "Thats it?".

500K in two days in one territory is not bad at all.

Especially when you consider that that constitutes somewhere in the vicinity of one in six Wii U owners (assuming no huge bump in hardware sales) bought the game in the first two days.

Even worse than that! 14.4mill vs 3.28mill. So 500K in 2 days of sales is quite impressive, lol.

3DS has still sold far more than Wii U has in the USA.

500k in US against 702k in US means the Wii U SSB will probably outsell the 3DS SSB. Or would do if they had the same installbase.

Yes, i just wanted to correct your stamement. No offense or shouting out your hint is wrong ;)

Don't get me wrong, technically yes 500k in two days is amazing for a game in one territory, but this is suppose to be Nintendo's biggest game of their generation (that we know of).  So maybe with all the hype that's been going around made it seem like almost every NA Wii U owner (except for me) was going to pick it up , so 500k didn't seem as much as I was expecting.
