We did some Christmas shopping on the 22nd in Huntington, WV. It's not a big city by any stretch. Copies of Smash were sold out or low stock at 5 or 6 places(all the ones that carried games) we went to. Amiibos were also sold out or out of stock. YMMV, but my local opinion is that Yoshi amiibos will be common and Villager and Wii Fit Trainer, not so much. We snagged the last Marth and Pikachu(every other store was sold out of these ones).

The stuffed Nintendo characters were getting hammered too according to Gamestop and Toys'r'us staff. We bought a Pikachu cause Pikachu. lol. I think Nintendo is going to survive just fine. I really wish they had a Skylanders type Amiibo game.

I guess I was expecting too much from november/holiday sales. 3DS version may have hurt the launch as well.

3DS has still sold far more than Wii U has in the USA.

500k in US against 702k in US means the Wii U SSB will probably outsell the 3DS SSB. Or would do if they had the same installbase.

But what about the WiiU itself?
