That software sales are good. As good as can be realistically expected anyway, I mean maybe some people had sky high expectations but they're probably living in a bit of a fantasy world. These are good sales given the Wii U's userbase.
What is worrying though is Nintendo made no mention of a hardware increase like they did with Mario Kart 8 press release where they were quick to highlight a 600% boost in hardware, so perhaps the hardware boost wasn't as large as they were hoping.
Pretty much anyone rational was thinking it would be around this number. There's Black Friday to come, which presumably a lot of people are waiting for - both to get the game, and the console itself.

It will, it was 89k last week even before Smash released ;)
I just noticed Xbox One just outsold Wii U.
Hopefully this game will give the Wii U some life left.

Maybe is a country specific problem, I just checked with a few friends from Chile, and they also have the game since saturday. Additionally POE (from Uruguay) uploaded a video of him and his friends playing this weekend. It is a shame because Brazil is a big market.
Not too shabby in the US alone. And it hasn't let up. It remains in the top three hourly constantly alongside Pokemon OR/AS on Amazon. So it clearly is going into the holidays with a lot of momentum that doesn't seem to be tapering off as fast as other major releases did. But we'll see.
This is good and all, but Wii U sales don't seem to have drastically improved much. Still in stock everywhere I go, not anywhere near the top charts at amazon, gamestop, ect...
It'll probably be up in hardware sales by at least a decent margin, but nothings changed it seems. The Wii U is still fading fast. It needs a decent-to-large price cut, marketing, Smash Wii U bundles and probably more if it Nintendo wants to actually improve the consoles future.

Well I never noticed WiiU near the top on Amazon either despite the game being very high
