Ugh, don't even get me started on this. As much as I usually like IGN when it comes to reviews, I just hate it when they decide a game simply doesn't deserve a 10, so instead of just saying "it's good, but not 10/10 kind of good" they have to make up some stupid excuse like "it's too hard" or "has too much water" or "my mom said I shouldn't play this kind of game" and stuff like that.

All good points and things that should not affect review criteria.
If the game's difficulty was poorly paced that may effect the score but if simply being hard was a valid criticis, the Demon Souls series would score in the seven's.
One of the best example's of non-sense review criteria was the telegraph review of dragon age origins which said it's plot fell short of Game of Thrones, which covers 100% of video games ever.
