It's concept art, so it's given.

But we can do that with real screenshots.

Obviously, I'm being sarcastic, there's reason why that game, though not up my alley, is color graded the way it is - my "fixes" give completely different (and wrong) atmosphere.

Owww you are a real artist, you put more colors in it, who cares if it lost ambience and don't ressemble reality at the time as we think it was...

But no one took my "bet" on KZ:SF having more color variency in one shadow than the entire palete on MK8.

Thanks, but not really, it's honestly some basic stuff with color saturation.

As I already said it here (and illustrated it with two almost same, but fundamentally different pictures)

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6840083

there's a place and time for everything - if 1886 art designers wanted for game to look colorful, it would, as shown, as it's not as big of a deal to get there.

I was joking on the notion that more colors = more artistic view...

And of course more color isn't hard to do on the games that are supposedely grey/brown they just would look out of place and in some cases uglier besides not coherent.

Are you being serious, or are you just playing with me? Nobody can make out the pic below the Killzone one, unless he knows the source. Its way too pixelated.

I can make it out just fine. It's 720p, so technically the 480p Killzone pic is more "pixelated". What I think you mean is that you find its aesthetic presentation harder to make out.

As someone who understands what is going on, I find this conversation hilarious.

Yeah looking back it is pretty funny. XD

I had no clue it was displaying a thumbnail, I thought he was saying Killzone on PS2 looked better than Gears of War 2...

Games are no good unless it is set at high noon with not a cloud in the sky.

Dark clouds and fog = bad.

Bad fog, bad, bad fog.

Bring light, more light.

It's not foggy London anymore, (guessing) more like Lousiana, but heck, it has colors and all.

That's a bit better than before!

Nope. they're also dull green and brown.

The problem with the so-called realistic games is that they don't even reflect reality, they make it look ugly.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Depends. On its own - probably, though highly subjective; put into context of 1886 - original is better, specially in that other screenshot I played with.

Anyway, the whole point was to show that you can easily have vibrant colors even in games that don't look anyway near that and that art designers color grade picture the way they do on purpose - not everything needs to look like it's part of TV commercial for hair products.

Actually what developer trying to achieve on realistic type of graphic is not a really realistic life color but realistic movie and cinematic art direction based on most action movie on the market.

Cinematic and movie direction color has a lot of gray and color degradation on it. So it's not always true "realistic games tend to have gray color". We will see this type of shader in the future depend on the games thou.

Explain it to me what is going on then, because curl-6 isn't going to do that.

It's simple, really. Curl posted a pic of Gears of War 2, but by hotlinking the image got all ruined with pixelation, instead of showing the full, normal image in 720p.

There was a bug when Curl linked the image, so sometimes it displayed a small thumbnail ballooned up to full size making it extremely pixelated. Obviously you two saw different images, but I was seeing both.
