Glad you enjoyed it!

The ironworks are gone at the end of the movie, they have to start from scratch. Without the forest god the emporor has lost interest in them anyway. The samrurai have nothing left to get there either. They can rebuild in peace.

I knew you would post in this thread

I've already pre-ordered my 4th copy of the movie :/
Already have the DVD + factory sealed DVD + Hong kong blu-ray version and now the Disney Blu-ray on order with the english dub for the kids. I prefer the english subs though. The english dub makes some changes to the script that lessen the impact somewhat. For example when Ashitaka has to leave the village it's clear enough that it will be permanent, the english dub didn't really have to add 'You are dead to us from now on', 'To see with eyes unclouded' sounds more poetic then adding 'by hate' at the end. Other changes don't make much sense at all, for example when Okkoto the boar god is near death the english dub says, "Don't touch him, he is no longer a god" while the sub says "Don't go near him, the curse will fall on you". Why change that? The voices themselves are well done luckily.

I have a 1080p german version on disk :) I watched the movie countless times by now and every time I had a new girlfriend we watched this movie and all were surprised by it (and so surprised that I always got a happy end myself ).

Around the Network

Such a terrific and tragically beautiful film! I gotta watch it again!

One more thing. Look what I was able to find in the Miiverse Art Academy community!

Good, now go see it again, maybe this time you will remember the name of the movie correctly ^^

I still think Nausicaa, which has the same basic idea behind it, is a better film, but it's still outstanding, and is one of the films that makes me pine for the west to actually start producing 2d animated films again. Half of these 3d films have no soul.

for some reason I shed a tear when she was feeding him.

Tsubasa Ozora

Keiner kann ihn bremsen, keiner macht ihm was vor. Immer der richtige Schuss, immer zur richtigen Zeit. Superfussball, Fairer Fussball. Er ist unser Torschützenkönig und Held.

Mononoke was the first Ghibli anime I watched. My cousin rented it, and I later bought the American DVD. I think I fell in love with anime right there and then.

HERESY!

The true heresy is the person who voted less than 5 in the poll. I'm going to assume someone miss clicked the see results options in order to perserve my faith in humanity.

Just kidding, we are entitled to our opinions.

And is anyone else excited that Zelda U seems to be heavily inspired by this film so far? I also noticed the spirits in the Deer God's forests are quite similar to Makar's race in Windwaker! Their tiny, wear masks, live around a forest, and make rattling noises!

Ofcourse I'm excited.

Not just the Koroks were inspired by Kodama, also Kokiri from OOT and the monkeys from Twilight princess. Ofcourse Mononoke didn't invent Kodama, it's part of Japanese folklore.

One of my favorite movies of all time

Be sure to watch Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moving Castle!
