I am suspecting that there will be a december Nintendo Direct like last year which will hopefully announce it

"amiibo" is not a Wii U specific thing. It's its own format.
3DS uses amiibo too.
So will Nintendo Fusion (or whatever the next Nintendo handheld/console is).
I love Animal Crossing but I fee like, unless they're going to go balls out and give us a huge world and the ability to play online without friends codes that there's no point. I have the 3DS version so a high res version is not good enough imo.

I've been saying it for a while; there WILL be an Animal Crossing game for Wii U. Their last console without one was the SNES.

Even the N64 had an Animal Crossing game; it's just that it was Japan-only.

I wouldn't be so sure. Nintendo was unhappy with Animal Crossing's sales on the Wii, a Wii U version probably wouldn't even sell 1/2 as much.
I think it could be a launch title for the Fusion platform instead and would likely sell more there in the long run.
Or perhaps for both (if Wii U ports are relatively easy, which I suspect is one of Nintendo's criteria for Fusion).

Edited to SNES, even stronger case.
