Why? They might as well update AC New Leaf and add amiibo compatibility.
3DS will support Amiibos, so some game will get updated for it.

Well for all we know he could be talking about a 3DS sequel to New Leaf.

I think it's confirmed as much as it ever was. It's something that's probably going to happen. Nintendo's last 4 consoles had an Animal Crossing game so I think there's a pretty clear pattern. I just hope it's better than the disappointing "Let's Go To The City". I hope it's something more than just a New Leaf port with small added features basically.

EDIT: Or it could indeed just be in an update for New Leaf as mentioned above

I really hope they bring Animal Crossing to Wii U, it's one of my favorite Nintendo games.

If this is real, let's hope they don't blow it like they did City Folk.

Not that I'm saying City Folk was a bad game. It's just that the graphics were bland, and it was pretty much a port of Wild World with the addition of another town area. The new game should invest in some fresh gameplay features while maintaining cutesy graphics and atmosphere, kind of like New Leaf. :)
