That wasn't funny, clever or true. Im pretty sure they called it Super Smash Bros. For WiiU because it sounds like Super Smash Bros. 4 WiiU...

They give gamers the option to skip levels because not everyone has the patience or skill to play one level for hours on end. If you use it, then you usually get a lesser reward for it as well. It also gives the developer more freedom to make the game as difficult as they see fit.

What do you mean I can't ride this bicycle on the highway? Why didn't they tell me that this microwave couldn't cook toast? Why didn't the sales guy tell me that my ipad can't play CD's, DVD's, gameboy games, popcorn, underpants?

But if you're a 50 year old mom who last played video games in any extended fashion with Pac-Man in 1981, well yeah you might be confused as to what a Wii U is versus a Wii and what a 3DS is versus a DS or which Smash Brothers your kid wants.

Also to be honest I think SMB2 Japan wasn't released in North America because NOA (and IMO rightly so) saw that it was basically just a rehash of SMB1. There are plenty of NES games from Nintendo that are harder than SMB2 Japan.

And the level skip feature isn't all that bad either IMO ... yes the point of the game is to play the levels, but say you are a novice gamer and simply can't beat one of the levels. Should you not be able to play the rest of the game because of that? To be honest this has happened to me in the new DK: Tropical Freeze game, which is fairly freaking hard. I reached one of the bosses and it's just too much of a headache to beat him so I've never finished the game. Maybe I'll go back to it later, but maybe not. 

Besides is Super Smash Bros. for Wii U really that different from Super Smash Bros. U? You can call it the latter if you want. 


Agree with everything here. Anyone who has ever had a clueless parent, aunt/uncle or grandparents that tried to buy them a game knows why Nintendo has to make it abundantly clear at times. I've gotten SNES games as gifts when my aunt thought they were good for N64. I never owned a SNES.

I also don't see the problem with the stage skipper in NSMBW. If you don't want it or need it, then don't use it. You are never forced to. There are plenty of of games I've played throughout the years where I would have appreciated such a feature (80 percent of the NES library!). Your example is DKC:TF; mine is the original DKC. I love what I can accomplish of that game, but I have never finished it because I get frustrated trying. If it ever comes to the Wii U VC like it did for Europe, I'll actually try again due to save states.

Not really. His arguments doesnt hold up. He wanted to make a funny video and Nintendo was the easiest target...

Because evidence has shown that the general comsumer is pretty unaware, like the confusion over the 3DS and Wii U. Nintendo is taking extra care to avoid that type of confusion again, I really wouldn't say they're trying to treat people like they're stupid.

It won't be that confusing since they will discontinue selling the old 3ds units shortly after the launch of the new 3ds. There may be a short peroid of time where there is some confusion. I don't see it being a major issue as those casuals who are adopting the 3ds now will not no the difference and will buy the new system because it's the one available for sale on the shelf. Guys like us will know all about it and buy it to replace our old 3ds units. In the future there will be some who Xenoblade and then take it home and discover that it only runs on the New 3ds. They will return to the store and can then have it explained to them. They can either return the game or they can at this point purchase a new 3ds.
