You know that something is really bad when you feel bad about giving a view to a youtuber. The guy ignores reason for the sake of fame; responding to him is a waste of time.

Store clerks can be morons even the ones who apparently are hardcore gamers.

One time I wanted to buy the analog stick add-on for the 3DS (more as a collectors item than anything else) but the clerk at Gamestop basically tried to wrestle it away from me and tried to claim it would invalidate my 3DS warranty even though it's an official Nintendo made product.

I feel like Buckley was being a bit too harsh here. I mean honestly what else would they call it besides Smash 3D and Smash U?

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

Nintendo focuses their "marketing" on customers who don't already know about their products or don't already desire to purchase their products. The whole point of marketing is to reach people beyond your existing consumer base. When I was in business I never considering purchasing advertisements to attract my current clients which is of coarse common sense. Nintendo fans aren't the ones being targetted by marketing. They are the ones being targeted when Nintendo creates a new high quality game. Nintendo fans are well aware of things like review scores and the features of their hardware ect.

Having said this I see Nintendo broadening their marketing efforts to adult gamers as well which is evidenced in their marketing of Bayonetta 2. Nintendo is going through some changes as a company and are moving their gaming business more towards the hardcore and are broadening the range of products outside of gaming with their new QOL platform to deversfy this way since the opportunity for kids and average joe parents is no longer readily available in the gaming business due to smartphones tables and facebook gaming.

I would expect Nintendo's next console to be similar in power to the PS5 and Xbox "Too" and feature a traditional controller. Their next handheld will be usable as a controller similar to the wiiu controller right now but won't be required. They will make nearly all 1st party games playable on both machines and enable cloud saves and cross buy so games can be played elitely at home but also gamers can continue playing on the go or on the handheld when the tv at home is in use for other purposes. They will also continue to evolve thier online efforts and the day will come when Nintendo is able to generate billions per year with a playstation plus competitor where gamers will receive free virtual consoles games and older retail games as well as discounts on other games.

Nintendo is already back into profits and will continue to grow their profits with many of the alterations to their business model which I have outlined.

I'm not going to focus on the marketing, since Nintendo is only good at marketing to their own fans. I'm going to focus on the games, however.

Take Fire Emblem, for example. I loved the GBA iterations of the series, despite The Sacred Stones being way too easy, and Roy sucking hard in Sword of Seals, simply because it was simple enough to understand, and the battle system was good enough (to be honest, I miss the twin weapon-triangles that this series employed), and the micromanagement of the characters' EXP (sadly lost in the The Sacred Stones, though).

Then, I stepped up to the Wii version, Radiant Dawn. Yes, it had a shitty plot that literally involved a bunch of people just destroying army after army and only stopped with a god, but the battle system had much-needed improvements (the Laguz were still underpowered, and the Support syste, just bad, though.) Yet, it was fun. I wasn't punished because the AI was practically cheating with stat boosts, I was punished because I didn't allocate EXP to my characters well enough, or because I fucked up on a move this turn. (And, yes, the first arc of the game is hard, for Fire Emblem standards.)

Of course, I got to the 3DS version: Awakening. It was a good RPG, with the Support system getting a big boost, and the grind-friendly The Sacred Stones-esque map, but you got to a point where there was less thinking and more curbstomping of enemies.

I could say the same thing for Pokemon past Gen III, but I felt like Fire Emblem was a better example.

Heh, I thought the exact same thing when Nintendo announced the "full" titles for both versions of Smash. I was like are you f'n kidding me?? No (somewhat) creative name in the title like Brawl or Melee, just the name of the consoles??

Back in the day there would be plenty of games with the same exact title and nearly identical box art released on both the NES and Game Boy... they never said "for Nintendo Entertainment System" or "for Game Boy" in the title, and people got along just fine.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Ehhh, seems to me that Nintendo is just over compensating for the Wii U identity, hence "Super Smash Bros FOR 3DS," and the other for Wii U.

A bit harsh. didn't finish it, so if he acknowledges it later then I missed it. I got to the part with him shoving the 3ds game in the toaster. I honestly don't think he gets that Nintendo has always marketed to specifically young kids and their parents that likely aren't gamers. So it's not that Nintendo thinks their fans are stupid, especially the older ones, it's that they know without a doubt that their target audience is often young and impressionable and ignorant.

I mean its like reading a children's book and getting pissed thinking the book/author/publisher is treating *you* like a moron. Guess what it's not meant for you. I'm sorry but if the guy can't see that then he really is a moron. Nintendo games especially the core franchises are meant for families, more specifically young kids.

Nintendo doesn't do that with every game tho, just the ones again targeted for kids, which this guy is bitching about. They have games like Bayonetta and ZombieU targeted for mature audiences, and guess what those games don't treat their users like idiots or ignorant kids like the core franchises do. If ya ask me this guy is a bit of a wet noodle and may have a head injury.

WHAT HE SAID

This really doesn't make much sense. They decided to put the name of the console on the game. They must think we're idiots, or (call me crazy) they ran out of names. Honestly though, there are idiots out there that will still get this messed up. Do you really think everyone cares enough to figure it out, I wish they would, but they don't.

Does he think he's cool for swearing so much?

I wouldn't say it's a big deal, I see Nintendo just trying to get it out there that there are two versions.
