A vocal minority liked those controls. No one's doing anything with motion controls now because the fad is over. The Game pad needs good implementation to sell it though, and this is the game to do it with.

This,
I mean the sales back it up too.

No. Exactly the opposite is true.
Nintendos problem wasn't the consoles name, the price or the GamePad.
It was NOT communicating clearly which games will use the WiiMote/Nunchuck control scheme and which will not.
About that "fad" theory: YEARS after the Wiis release Wii Sports Resort sold 32.58 millions of copies (MK Wii 35.53 Mio, Wii Sports 82.54).
The WiiMotion+ title WAS the THIRD BEST SELLING title on the Wii. Thats FACT.
NIntendo "just" has to convert 1/3 of those players to the Wii U and all problems are "gone". Having no Wii Sports Club ready at launch was a big mistake. Not promoting it more heavily when it was ready also.
Most Nintendo cores have already bought the Wii U. To expand the audience noticable Nintendo MUST get back to what the Wii make that success: the WiiMote/Nunchuck control scheme.
