I'm of the opinion that a critically acclaimed game that's "just like Alien" cannot be made. The two experiences don't really align very well.
Most games are easy. Yes, even the games you think are hard. If you drop someone into the situation in the Alien film, 99 times out of 100 they would die--yet people often say they want an Alien game to be just like the movie. If they did that, people would quit in frustration "because it's not fair". Well, yeah, neither was the situation in the film. You can't really have both. In an Alien game that's based on the film, you should die both often and unfairly. The main character of Alien only lived because she was supposed to, through plot device, not because that's what would really have happened.
It's an extremely tough spot to be in for developers.

Why would they complain that the game is hard? Isn't that the point of the game... to be challenging?

Horror games are suppose to be challenging because it made you tense. It's not a horror game if it's easy to play. Reading the reviews, they complained about how the alien AI is unpredictable, how this is a bad thing. This made me want the game even more.

Polarized reviews, which isn't that unexpected.
Now 78 meta after 11 reviews, good score.
So it is happening...PS4 preorder.
Greatness Awaits!

Agreed. I want that. I don't want Colonial Marines, where they stare at a wall.

If you actually read his review, it just SCREAMS that he is bad at the game and he blames the game, rather than himself.
I mean come on, he puts unpredictable AI as a negative. The fuck is that?

I guess it a lose - lose situation for the developers of horror games, especially a blockbuster one. If they made a hard game, people will complain. And if it was easy, they'll complain about how linear and scripted the game is. I noticed critics now only game high scores for horror games if it was made by an indie developer. Critics are hypocrites.

After reading IGN's review I can't agree with their score. It sounds like a 7/10 game, not a 5.9... I understand his complaint that it's a little too repetitive, and thus too long, but a 5.9? no.
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
