Forums - Sony - Hajime Tabata wants to make Final Fantasy XV "more casual, one button action"

Much like me in the Bayonetta 2 thread, you're putting up a valiant but vain fight.

Don't you mean "putting a valiant fight against vain people"?

Casual? You really think that a casual gamer will pick up a M rated game that isn't Western Centric? Only Japanese Casuals will buy this.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Me!

Ok, what's up with all the silly "the other FF games were one button games, so what's the big deal?" comments? Of course, they were one action button games, they were friggin' turn-based RPGs where the action button was to confirm what action you wanted a character to take. THIS game is an ARPG, so you're not confirming you're characters moves from a list of actions, you're actually hitting a jump button to jump and an attack button to attack. Got it? Good.

Now, the way this guy is talking, it seems there is just one button for attacking for the player to push, and the character AI determines what the best form of attack is for the enemy you are attacking or the situation you are currently in. In other words, limiting the players choice just for the sake of appealing to casuals. If this is the case, fuck this game.

I also hate that there is no more mention of airships, just a stinking car. Which you can have drive itself, again, a choice trying to appeal to casuals. Though, the last time I checked, even casuals like driving in games. It also makes me worried that they may have decreased the size of the world map to accommodate being able to drive around the whole thing in a relatively slow car.

Not sure why my phone chose to post that twice.  Sorry bout that.

Do you also consider the fast travel option in almost all open-world games "trying to appeal to casuals" ? The idea behind it is the same as auto-driving, What about the auto-aiming in games like GTA, Wath Dogs, RDR ? Gamers in general want these elements in their games.

Auto-aim is present in every console FPS to assist the imperfect control scheme. It's just a norm.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

In FPS maybe, but in the games I mentioned It's basically press L1 and the aim would be placed exactly on an enemy, and R1 to shoot. repeat.

Battle looks like its going to be like this through out the game.

I say it is complex, but also accessible. You know what they say.. Easy to learn, but hard to master.

This looks pretty good actually. I still won't get too hyped though..
