Forums - Sony - Hajime Tabata wants to make Final Fantasy XV "more casual, one button action"

So are we set on the idea this is Kingdom Hearts: Final Fantasy edition? Because I'm all for that.

Hmm, pie.

Pretty much. Doesn't seem like the new director has changed anything fundamental. Let's hope it says that way. He just needs to keep silence from now on.

Ok, what's up with all the silly "the other FF games were one button games, so what's the big deal?" comments? Of course, they were one action button games, they were friggin' turn-based RPGs where the action button was to confirm what action you wanted a character to take. THIS game is an ARPG, so you're not confirming you're characters moves from a list of actions, you're actually hitting a jump button to jump and an attack button to attack. Got it? Good.

Now, the way this guy is talking, it seems there is just one button for attacking for the player to push, and the character AI determines what the best form of attack is for the enemy you are attacking or the situation you are currently in. In other words, limiting the players choice just for the sake of appealing to casuals. If this is the case, fuck this game.

I also hate that there is no more mention of airships, just a stinking car. Which you can have drive itself, again, a choice trying to appeal to casuals. Though, the last time I checked, even casuals like driving in games. It also makes me worried that they may have decreased the size of the world map to accommodate being able to drive around the whole thing in a relatively slow car.

You're completely negating the RPG element though. With all your vast knowledge off how this game works tell me how you execute a fire spell in the game, or utilise potion? As far as we know this is not fully an action game, there are selections Icons on the bottom left for reason and the UI looks similar to kingdom hearts. Even if there are AI determined actions I'd be surprised we didn't have choice of output, think FFXII and the gamebit system. The point is people are panicing over a vague statement they don't fully understand.

The assumption that driving a car would decrease the size of the world isn't back up either. Remember it took less then a minute to travel from 1 side of the world map to the other when in airships in past Final Fantasy's. You have to consider that those maps weren't actually massive. they were just densly packed. Some concern is warranted but most people are jumping to conclusions.

Not going to watch the video (ever), however that car does not look appropriate for off road activities...

Hmm, pie.
