I'd take another look at GTA, COD, and BF sales on PS3.

Yes, Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Battlefield set the standards we should apply to all Western games, especially new IP.

They're some of the very few popular western games. Destiny is also very big and is in the same genre as COD and BF. I don't think the comparison is invalid.

GTA, CoD (Ghosts aside), and BF, haven't exactly been lambasted and critically whipped by the general gamer press either. In fact, those three have in general been critically praised with Battlefield being the usual low-end.

They're also established IPs. At this point, we don't even know how far Destiny will go if it keeps up its bad returns for Activision and their stock expectations, and if people even bother to support the paid DLC. They had a lot hanging on this game and the news on the returns isn't exactly... good. The poor reception could stint the DLC profit expectations and we get a whole house of cards scenario for this 500$ million project. Activision will survive, thanks to WoDWoW, but Bungie will get hit hard and Destiny may just turn into another blip on the historical radar.

Guess it'll be fine to combine SSB sales for similar purposes.....

I can't imagine ever combining Smash sales except when comparing them to previous Smash games. Don't make such silly assumptions.

Did you read why i said this? Of course I dont think we need to combine SSB 3DS and Wii U sales.....

But you are assuming Nintendo fans will combine sales of the two when it suits their agenda. I'm trying to reach a middle ground here. A certain user was comparing sales of Hyrule Warriors to sales of a game that launched on two consoles, one of which is 8 years old and has an install base over 10 million in Japan. It makes no more sense to combine Destiny sales on those two platforms than it makes to combine Smash sales on its two platforms, which is to say it makes no sense at all except in specific situations. This is not one of those situations.

Damn, guess you cant sense sarcasm on the internet. My bad

COD has been the whipping child since Modern Warfare 3. GTA and BF are generally well liked though.

I don't think there's a huge percieved gap between Destiny and the others though.

Ok man have your way... everybody was overhyped for Destiny in Japan because there was marketing everywhere... the game actually flopped with 100k sales.

People bought 80k of standalone game because of that, and payed full price on the bundle+game just because of the second color that will be standalone next month...

I said none of that... at all. I am telling you to not compare the incomparable and using Destiny's numbers as they are presented because they are skewed unless you have an identical, other console comparison where you have a bundled, limited console + game scenario.

Also you may want to talk to Activision and their plummetting stock about whether or not Destiny is a flop.

I already said I didn't started the comparison and don't care about, just discussed how it should be done... but your great grief is a bundle without discount... Ok at the LT in the end discount 20k if it makes you so much happy. If the game sold 4x unbundled do you think the color had more influence in the SW sale or that the SW had more influence in the HW or just because you can't prove you just disregard it?

And since Zelda is so unknown and Nintendo fans where so certain that HW was useless and unhyped we may as well say there is no point in comparing anything to it right? Owww no, I remember quite some hype here and how much it would improve sells.

Hyrule Warriors breaks 100k, is that good for a Musou game? I thought they did a lot more usually.

I guess the Warriors saving Zelda/Nintendo in Japan had failed somewhat but I guess it can still be a very successful Warriors game in the west with the Zelda name behind it so all is not lost.

The Musou crowd is on the PS consoles, so of course it has preformed poorly for a Musou game. I think its mainly the Zelda fanbase purchasing it and thats the same I would expect from the west. Difference being that Musou>Zelda in Japan but Zelda>>>>>>>>>>>>>Musou in the west.

Well, there's obviously a few Musou fans on the U or it would have flopped. Plus, isnt there also a One Peice  Musou game on Wii U that did alright?

Plus Fist of the North Star 2.

Also wasn't Samurai Warriors 3 out first on the Wii?

Don't get me wrong, Musou's home is PS but I think it has a decent enough impact on Nintendo.

Exactly. People are underestimating Nintendo's Musou base.

Just finished going through the thread and MAN is it hilarious to read some of the comments.

"It's the white ps4"
"No, it's Destiny"

Guess what? Nobody knows. No, seriously, you just don't. And neither do I. All we can do is guess.

Anyway, wish the vita numbers were a bit higher. Still hoping that the ps4 can turn things around.
