GAF is for extreme Liberalism (that is why Badgenome hates it). Reddit is for Libertarianism. I would prefer a huge gaming forum that was a mix of the two. Both are too extreme in politics.

Good on him. Quinn was important for the appearance of journalistic impropriety, but folks took it and made it into some sort of half-baked Red Pill cause, completely subverting the movement into some kind of faux-MRA misogynist front.

The cries of "censorship" on the other side ignore the fact that it seems to be impossible to have this discussion, anywhere, without it bringing to light some very ugly things in a community, and at the end of the day we're not obligated to tolerate ugly thoughts as liberal-democratic States are.

While the harrassment issues that came up were certainly grotesque and inappropriate, the discussion of extremist-feminism and its hypocritical applications in gaming media are just as important as any other discussions that came up out of this. Gaming journalists need to not only be open about their connections to the people they write about, but also be held accountable for their hypocrisy and biases. When someone calls the attention of everyone to talk about a male developer who denied allegations of rape, then condemns anyone who so much as speaks about Zoe Quinn in a negative light, something is wrong. This isn't exclusive to to video game journalism either, but as a smaller, more niche group, we have a better ability to change, and we have seen steps being made to be more open after this situation, but further steps need to be taken.

The question is one of timing. Were the people condemning Quinn's detractors doing so before or after (some of) Quinn's detractors turned r/videogames into a toxic dump site?

Also, I hardly see misogynist funding 20k dollars in a feminist project. Of course the first idea was to use it as PR, but people who followed the initial idea, and invested in it, do not resent women.

I agree. As someone who has been playing video games since 1978, I'm embarrassed by the kind of people who share my hobby. I envy the casuals who don't have any serious obsession with the industry as they are shielded from the likes of Mr. Malka's brood.

In a world where there are huge tensions between Russia and Ukraine (and by proxy the EU and US), Iraq is disintegrating, a brutal dictator is battling an equally brutal currently forming IS. Ebola causing a health crisis in Africa, Israel and Hamas going at it. Europe going back into recession. Scotland contemplating independence from the UK and the following potential tanking of economies. Huge racial divides continuing in the US. etc. etc. etc. etc.
