Why don't we just... ignore shit that is bad for the community?

First off, it's video GAME industry. There is no freakin' "s" attached. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_industry. Second, anyone who actually defends the actions of someone as disgusting as Zoe automatically disqualifies themselves as having common sense imo.

You have to remember that there are  these "sorts" in everything. There is just a dark side to humanity and that some of them choose to be vocally engaged in video games bears no resemblence on gaming itself. I say that towards both sides, as I'm not particularly happy of the  bias cherry picked "social criticism" that's also been heavily directed at gaming lately either. But how other people have "defended" this is equally  abhorent.

I'd say 95% of gamers are actually in the middle not giving a flying f**k either way while a very vocal social media war wages between the bigots. It's just such a shame that the reputation of our hobby (which has never been partiularly positive outside of gaming) is being dragged through the mud with them.

This is pretty funny coming from Tyler Malka when you consider his post history.

this all stems from the desire to make a perfect world

a utopia where no one is ever mistreated and made to feel bad

however, anyone who understands the concept of balance will understand that it will never be possible

everything that exists around us exists as part of a couple of opposing forces

you have heat/cold light/dark electricity/magnetism matter/void etc etc etc and also good/evil

and since everything exist with a particular balance when you change one force the other also changes to compensate but that doesn't mean though that it will be eradicated

so to me "social justice warriors" as they are called definitely have an honorable cause but i do think that ultimately they will fail and may actually cause things to get worse as time goes on

we now have a situation where artists have to be worried about what they produce because of the possibility they may offend some group that will cause an outrage, not that this is inherently bad but now its being taken to extremes

where normal aspects of male sexuality ( checking out women ) are being shamed as harassment ( it can be but it isn't in some of the cases i see being labelled as harassment )

and so on

there will never be a situation where you can completely eliminate evil or bad things happening to some people

It would be impossible to nail down the timing because the whole thing became so vitriolic so quickly. Reflexive misogynists and reflexive feminists swarmed instantly and reacted predictably, and in a neat trick Quinn's friends used the misogyny of trolls to invalidate any and all criticism of her, the argument being that pursuing any such criticism puts one on the side of the misogynists. That is, of course, bullshit on stilts on par with the claim that any criticism of the U.S. government post-9/11 makes one a terrorist sympathizer. There is no room for nuanced views when the feminist Dubyas play the "you're either with us or against us" card.

This ploy particularly stinks in light of Quinn's own past behavior, like the Fine Young Capitalists fiasco (in which she was on "the side" of the doxxing and death threats) and her quickness to judge Stardock as "bad people" and side with Alexandra Miseta's claims against Brad Wardell (which were flogged all over the 'net by Kotaku, et al, before eventually being thrown out of court). It really sticks in my craw how Wolf Wozniak's own claim of sexual harassment by Quinn have been completely ignored in all this, and his seem rather credible due to the way he clearly agonized over whether or not to say anything because of the repercussions and immediately backed down and recanted as soon as Phil Fish tore him a new one. That incident alone kind of gave the lie to the idea that there is nothing nepotistic going on here.

This just seems like a case of all of the bad tendencies of internet activism blowing up all at once, then.

I'd be willing to give at least a fair shake to anyone Phil Fish finds objectionable...
