Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo apparently rejected this new Metroid game pitch

Looks like tripe, and Dark Moon was an excellent game, so no love lost here.

That concept art looks like fan art drawn by a 6th grader.

And the Metroid franchise has been "dormant" for a whopping 4 years... only half the time it took between Super Metroid and Prime 1 / Fusion.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Other M never happened

It does look lousy, but it most certainly would have been better than Other M.

Anything Metroid-related could be better than Other M..

Do we know anything about this other than the concept art (which I quite like)? Seems a bit odd to be commending Nintendo's decision/slamming the game, on the back of one piece of concept art, with no knowledge of how the game was going to play.

I would agree with you if this was a new franchise but it's not. Metroid is a game built around atmosphere and aesthetic. As a long time fan it is quite plain that this style simply wouldn't fit the Metroid universe, at least not any version of it that we've seen so far. Stray to far from that universe and it ceases to be Metroid.

What? Ew. That concept art looks weird. :S
