Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo apparently rejected this new Metroid game pitch

I find it funny how the author mentions how long Metroid has been dormant, a whopping 2.5 years at the time of Dark Moon's release, while completely ignoring the fact that Luigi's Mansion took 11.5 years to get a sequel.

To put that into perspective, I was 9 years old when the first game released, in the single digits and not old enough to really do anything without adult supervision. When the sequel released I was 21, old enough to legally drink and just a few months away from being a father myself.

Also he seems to forget that Metroid has seen 7 games release in the time it took Luigi's Mansion to get a sequel. Metroid Fusion/Metroid Prime-2002, Metroid Zero Mission/Prime 2-2004, Metroid Prime Hunters-2006, Metroid Prime 3-2007, Metroid Other M-2010.

Don't get me wrong, I love Metroid and its tied with Zelda as my favorite video game series ever but its ridiculous to act like it deserved a new entry over Luigi's Mansion, which by the way both entries have outsold the best selling Metroid game.

This concept art kinda fucking sucks, so I can't say that I'm upset by this...

Other M was still a lot better than Metroid Prime 3.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

That artwork looks right out of a bad 90s Saturday Morning cartoon.

Even in the classic Metroid's games though, you can notice a HINT of feminism by how she moves. I think all Metroid fans would agree. How would you notice something feminine moving around in that huge clunk of upper armor?

I'm sure this already made the rounds last week when it was revealed.

Yeah...thank goodness someone at Nintendo has a brain and let this particular artists fanart hit the floor like it should have. How those cubist shoulders turn into a sphere is beyond me.

Hey Metroid developers...don't mess with the perfect design that has been created...just give us a new game already. You don't need to reinvent the wheel, just give us a new track...make it large, with many passages, and powerups, and isolation, and no Adam, and no "baby" talk.

Can it really be that hard?

Ha! This is the very first thing that struck me too.

The concept art is definitely a bad representation of Samus. I am glad that this project did not go ahead.

I am eagerly anticipating a new Metroid game, honestly I can see it being announced during E3 next year.

It does look lousy, but it most certainly would have been better than Other M.

Whoa is this an insult to Prime 3 or a praise to Other M?

Either way, at least you didn't put Prime 1 in that sentence.

This was one of the few good decisions made by Nintendo as of late. Good on them.

Other M had game play elements that are very good but the story, tone and some of the design aspects make it very much the black sheep of a franchise that until then really didn't have any serious clunkers.

That being said, I still want to see Anthony Higgs in the next Metriod game.
