Did the patch change the VR system?

I got 4th out of 11 in a race with mostly VR7000 racers (like me) and some VR3000/4000 racers and lost 6 points...

Nintendo giving free DLC and the optional paid DLC is DLC done right! This needs to become a trend from now on.

It appears they took away the limit.. and I thought they changed how many points they give and take? Still the higher VR points will mostly show players who've played a lot, since losing isn't penalized as much as winning. (I'm assuming, haven't seen for myself the points given yet.)

downloaded and pre ordered the 2 DLC!

When I arrived yesterday night, had the Gamepad notification and then I noticed that update was already downloaded and installed. I booted the game I saw the Mercede's DLC, and as a plus I was able to download and install the DLC hassle free directly from the game. They linked the eShop in the game, it even showed your total funds. I was surprised, since it worked much better than forcing you to switch to the eShop app, similarly to what was done with Pikmin 3.

More Highlight Reel updates, please.

Matching might be better, but it could have been dumb luck. Definitely harder to score points now, for me anything below 3rd meant losing points. Also it might have been my imagination but red shells seem to travel heaps faster.

Coins still suck.

You're not the first person to report what seems to be a harder time getting more points.

I have yet to test it out, but my bet is that they're adjusting the system to more represent skill over time played.  I can understand that change, to be honest, lol
