Forums - Microsoft - Xbox boss Phil Spencer says Tomb Raider Xbox Exclusivity Is A Win/Win, Not An Attack On PlayStation Players

And, after all the debates and anger, all the upheaval and bad press, it would just be so damn funny if the game were to be postponed until 2016...

I was thinking that. It depends on how the deal was worded, but if it's like the PR was worded and the X1 release gets pushed back to after holiday 2015, could they theoretically release all versions together anyway?

so am i,.. i'm just not as short sighted as you.

Thanks! I try to be above the console warz bullet points. You have fun though.

whatever you need to say to yourself make you feel like a better man.

nintendo's reputation for not having third party games hurts nintendo.  ms's reputation for not keeping their exclusives exclusive hurts microsoft.

i was thinking about that too.   i suppose i could calculate it out to be sure but the rate AAA games recieving a delay seems to be around 50%.   it would be very lulz worthy if tomb raider got delayed until 2016.

Of course it's a win win. It's a win for Phil AND Xbox.

Phil is a great communicator, but in all he was talking about how it helps MS and not how it helps gamers in any way . I will play this on 360 like I played the last one on 3sexty. Thing is I wanted to play it on this gen on the PS4 I already own. so thank you Phil and MS for paying for me to play TR on last gen. It really makes me warm and fuzzzy!

"Phil Spencer: Totally. I'm a big fan of Uncharted and I wish we had an action adventure game of that ilk. We've started some, and we've looked at them. But we don't have one today of that quality. This is an opportunity." As a Sony 'Fan' I do love Phil's honesty.

I feel this entire deal with Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix was a panic move from Microsoft. Clearly they are afraid of Uncharted 4 and wanted to counter it so they spent $100 million to keep Rise Of The Tomb Raider away from the PS4. They have all these exclusives coming over the next 18 months (Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Halo Anniversary, Project: Spark, Fable Legends, Forza Horizon 2, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, etc.) and yet they needed to do this? Makes me wonder if they have no confidence in their exclusives after Titanfall didn't help sales.

Or y'know perhaps they decided they want an adventure game on their platform, and making one from scratch of Uncharted 4's quality would take much longer than 14 months.

So they're ensuring their platform has something solid in this genre that will be ready for fall 2015. Makes a lot of sense for them. Not so good for Sony, but that's not MS' problem.

MS should money hat more games. In no world is having more exclusive content a bad thing.

Not MS' fault that Sony can't afford to compete in this area, it's not like Sony apologized to Nintendo/Sega/MS back in the day when they were the ones money hatting.

We heard you the first time, no need to repeat your self darling.
