Clearly they are afraid of Uncharted 4 and wanted to counter it so they spent $100 million to keep Rise Of The Tomb Raider away from the PS4. They have all these exclusives coming over the next 18 months (Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Halo 5, Halo Anniversary, Project: Spark, Fable Legends, Forza Horizon 2, Scalebound, Phantom Dust, etc.) and yet they needed to do this? Makes me wonder if they have no confidence in their exclusives after Titanfall didn't help sales. |
Or y'know perhaps they decided they want an adventure game on their platform, and making one from scratch of Uncharted 4's quality would take much longer than 14 months.
So they're ensuring their platform has something solid in this genre that will be ready for fall 2015. Makes a lot of sense for them. Not so good for Sony, but that's not MS' problem.
