Forums - Microsoft - Xbox boss Phil Spencer says Tomb Raider Xbox Exclusivity Is A Win/Win, Not An Attack On PlayStation Players

Again I say boo hoo. Sony used to moneyhat franchises left and right, they just can't afford to anymore.

Sony never apologized for keeping IP off the GameCube, Dreamcast, XBox, etc. why should MS have to?

Was there a huge fuss over MGS4 being PS3 only?

Double standards galore. Sony fans just are fairly whiny when it comes to these types of situations IMO, if the situation was reversed and Sony had it exclusive, there wouldn't even be 1/10th of the fuss.

Classic. if MS does something questionable suddenly they are teamed together.

Yeah I mean it's not as if Sony has never engaged in moneyhat tactics, especially not with this very franchise Tomb Raider. They wouldn't dare and are totally above that. And PR, does Sony even have that? Classic indeed.

Geez it's a timed exclusive deal, by now everyone should be used to it from MicroSony, and they should be used to the distancing and non-descriptive PR bullshit that comes with them from MicroSony.

It is a win/win for MS and Square. It's a loss/loss for PC/Playstation gamers but why should Phil give two shits about them?

because pissing off gamers is a great why to alienate your potential customer base?   aren't we all watching the results of how pissing off gamers effects your ability to sell consoles over these last few months?  this just contributes to the bad reputation ms has with gamers and in the end does more harm than good.

they are just compounding the perception that:

xbox get's exclusives,.. for a bit before going multiplat.

xbox get's exclusives,.. for the first year or two then ms stops trying.

I'm talking about real world results from this deal, not make believe bullet points for console warz on the Internets.

I'll be playing this day one for sure. One of the better games late last generation. They are adding something by taking away. Ppl may buy an Xbox One for this game so it has the potential to add sales.

MS should money hat more games. In no world is having more exclusive content a bad thing.

Not MS' fault that Sony can't afford to compete in this area, it's not like Sony apologized to Nintendo/Sega/MS back in the day when they were the ones money hatting.

This even if its timed it can help shift consoles, if I did not already have the x1 then this would be the reason to get one, cuss I'm not waiting, and if the deal is like dr3 then most likely is only coming out to PC in 2016

so am i,.. i'm just not as short sighted as you.

doesn't it irk anyone else that he uses "I" instead of "we"? Not a huge deal, but it just seems odd.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Just the real-world of halving your potential customer base, reducing profit and generally having less people exposed to your product.

In a gen where the hardware is pretty much ubiquitous, there really is no benefit to the exclusive content except to MS/Sony/Nintendo.

Thanks! I try to be above the console warz bullet points. You have fun though.
